Thank you!!! I love this quilt and have wanted to make one - and I am a seasoned quilter! - but didn't realize the simplicity of the process. I am starting a baby quilt TONIGHT for a new little Texan, born yesterday, with this pattern. And whoever didn't like this site and posted a thumbs down, get some help.

I use left and right 45°angles, cut in pairs "R" sides together. I don't use a starting square, I partial seam the cut off top bits onto the base. All the angles go to the outside, which gives you straight edges. No waste.

I saw one tutorial with a 2.5” to start, then a 4.5” then a 6.5”. Alternating the 4.5” with the 6.5”. So I’m trying that first. If it fails, my dog will get that one, to be honest he’s getting it no matter how it turns out! He will love it. Thanks for your ideas guys!

Thank you thank you for this video. I'm a new quilter and have been needing to make a quilt for one of my grown up grandsons ... all in black and white (geometrical patterns). It has been daunting trying to find a pattern that I thought I could actually accomplish and I think this will do it. In fact, I have almost finished a row. So excited.

Odd that RU-vid suggested this to me tonight. I’m not a quilter! I have made three quilts though in the past 6 years. When a friend told me she was making a mask scraps quilt and then said mine scraps were too small I decided I would make a mask scraps quilt. I cut all the 2.5” x 6” pieces I could. Then started making blocks from my smallest blocks. I only finished 5 - 8” squares before I stared back to college. Nontraditional student. So today I started making the braid from those 2.5” x 6” pieces. Thank you for the review.

Maybe “ bulk” isn’t the correct term . It was simply an observation. I have never sewn with the fabric to the right of the needle. I’m not saying it’s wrong. He didn’t need to flip the fabric over to sew that seam. Carry on Brody. If I was any more loose I would unravel.😉

It was interesting to watch you sew the 6" strips together: you always put the newest strip on top. That meant that every other strip you were using the left side of your presser foot as a guide and the excess fabric was in the throat plate area. I probably would have flipped my piece over so that the newest strip to be added was on the bottom and I could continue to use the right side of my presser foot as my guide. I assume you choose to leave the newest strip to be added on top? Any special reason for that? Thanks! I love making braid borders!

Thank you for this easy to follow video. Loving the way it's turning out but my first braided row is measuring 7 1/2" wide after drawing my trim line but the pattern said it should measure 6 1/2". I''ve double checked the pattern and I'm using 6.5" pieces and 1/4" seams. An inch wider is quite a bit so I don't want to keep making some kind of mistake on subsequent rows. Any ideas?
