This is a fun and quirky little pouch easily made in any size you like. It starts off with squares, becomes an otagonal shape with triangles. Confused? Don't be. It's very easy.

I have discovered a technique that I've not seen and since you are one of my favorite talents I think you could run with it. When making a Window Opening for a zipper I under stitch the lining of the opening and there will never be fabric to show on your outer main fabric. So simple and yet so very effective. Thanks for all your sewing videos,,,I watch them ALL.
@ChristinesHomeAffairs
@ChristinesHomeAffairs 9 месяцев назад
This has me very curious Virginia, and sounds like something I'd like to run with. Just need some clarification though. What do you mean by a window opening?😃
@ruthmaxwell60
@ruthmaxwell60 8 месяцев назад
A window opening is when you cut a line in the fabric, turn under the raw edges, place the zip face up under the opening and sew in place. Don’t understand what Virginia means about the lining though - interesting.
@ChristinesHomeAffairs
@ChristinesHomeAffairs 8 месяцев назад
@ruthmaxwell60 oh right. So it's the same as the zips I've done on the inside of bags then?😀

I've made this shape as a cushion, but much smaller, to use as a pin cushion. It's called an "etui" . I sewed through the center of the cushion thru 2 buttons, one on each side, to draw the center in. It makes a very attractive decorative cushion or pin cushion. You can make them really small, using 4 inch squares, stuff, and put a tassel from the bottom and a loop on the top, as a Christmas tree ornament.

It is cool and no way would do the enclosed lining either. It’s a nice way to enclose the seams but so much work. Think I’d drag out my serger to serge the inside seams but I am sooo picky I’d be changing thread colors on the serger to match inside lining … ahhh…. Not going there after 2nd thought😏😉

I find your videos. Gasp raw edges?!? I generaly use a overlocker on projects like this. One timesaving (IMHO) tip is to sew the whole length of straps or tabs at once. I would cut the tab fabric 6 inches (15 cm) fold and stitch both sides. Then I would cut it in half. For me it is less fiddly. Yes tongue position is important. 🙂
