Wonderful! Thank you for being so thorough and getting the corners to look great. I hadn't realized you should open up the tape and sew the first part. I have been sandwiching the fabric in the bias tape and trying to sew it in which sometimes it doesn't catch on the backside. I was also having trouble getting the nice clean seam when butting the fabric up at the end. I have sewn many different things, but this is my first time using bias tape on a project.

Great job on this tutorial, I deemed it worthy of a bookmark. Thank you for mentioning the width of the seam allowances or distance from edge of fabric. I've noticed that other tutorials often fail to mention it. I found your video as I wanted to add a pocket to an apron that I am sewing and thought binding tape would make it pop. However I never have used it and was perplexed on how to make the corner look clean and polished. You have a wonderful clear voice, and your instructions were comprehensive and concise. You seem to be a natural at teaching and the art of video production, along with your talent for sewing. I am now interested in seeing your other sewing tutorials.

I think it works fine on one layer of fabric (like the one you showed us). However, I find it impossible to make a perfect stich on both side of the quilt as the sides won't line up perfectly. So at the back of the quilt I had to hand stitch. I found it helpful when you showed us the corners- thank you

Yeah obviously this is much more simple with a single layer and no batting. This is more for crafts and garments than quilts. Quilters would probably have a much better method for binding a quilt 😊

When I first started sewing, I thought bias tape just got sandwiched on the outside of the fabric -- like Pac-Man munching the edge... 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ But when done correctly, the final product looks so polished!

Just stumbled across your channel - great stuff, especially for un-skilled sewers like myself. I have been buying grosgrain ribbon and using a specialized foot to either fold the tape once (rough projects), or twice, like bias tape.. but with varying degrees of success. I have absolutely no idea if I’m using the foot correctly, and it definitely doesn’t like corners or curves! I look forward to you perhaps giving tips on such things. Thanks!

Thanks for watching! Happy this has been helpful :) So the unique thing about bias tape is that it's fabric cut on the "bias" of the fabric - which mean's its cut on a 45 degree angle diagonally - which allows the fabric to shrink and swell as it needs to around inside or outside curves. Fabric cut straight, or any kind of ribbon will not do this (unless it's a stretchy material). Hope that helps, I appreciate the comment!!
