If possible, could you show how to make the pattern for these pants, including how to measure one self to account for the ease in order to end up with pants like these, and then show how to see them from the beginning? I know that might be a lot of work and may require a few videos. Thank you very much!!

Do I understand it correctly though that in order for the trousers to fit over my hips, the total size of the waist band needs to be my hip circumference (at least)? And I would just add however more that is than my waist to the back of the waist band? 🙈 sorry, it's just so hard to grasp...

@@larissa6417Yes and for it to fit well on your waist , the gathering with elastic is done. But if it’s for a a very large blessed lady with a smaller waist , maybe try different style with a zip opening at the front which is easier to get over the hips and you don’t have that much gathering at the waist. Hope this helps ❤

Oh my gosh having it half and half is such big brain energy!! I’m very new to sewing, and I traced a pattern from a skirt I already owned. Problem is I’m not really happy with the zippers my local sewing shops have for sale and I didn’t really want the look of a full elastic waistband with the print of the fabric I chose. Best of both worlds this one! A nice clean line for the front and the functionally of being able to get into the skirt from the back!! 🎉

Thank you so much. This video was really helpful and very well filmed. I need to make all my trousers with elasticated waistbands because I don’t like tight stiff waistbands. And women’s waists change in size a little each month which means the trousers are sometimes too tight! You made it easy to see how to do this properly. I'm making pants with side zipper and decided I needed to add the half elastic back waistband, so I'm watching this video and the 'Learning the right way to sew invisible zippers' video side by side. Everything is great so far, but soon it's time to install the zipper... after that I'll need to figure out where and how to sew the other end of the elastic waistband because the zipper will be there. I'm very greatful for your clear and to the point tutorials. Thank you! ♥
