I'm so grateful to have been directed to your channel & website by someone in the Love Notions FB group! The limitless possibilities of learning have been a life-changer for me. After 60+ years of sewing, I'm finally able to successfully adjust patterns. As an added bonus, there's not been a sewing step I've struggled with (the LNP Presto placket & insert) that you haven't provided an easy peasy perfect solution. Loving all your videos! Thanks for sharing your wealth of all-things-sewing knowledge! So excited to have found you. :)

Karina, I love your channel. I have been sewing since I was 13 (more than 60 years). I am learning so many things from you. I love the way you finish the inside of a garment and match patterns. I love your creativity. You are a beautiful woman and a very good teacher. I haven't been sewing clothes for a few years but am going to get back to it. You make it look so easy and fun. I also love learning about Brazil and Chili. Thank you.

Beautiful Karina! I find myself wanting to sew everything you do! I’m just finishing off my Kosice top which I was inspired to do from your video. It’s turning out beautifully. I’m about to sew the buttonholes which I’ve never done before. I’m putting on extra buttons like you do because I hate gaping. I’m a little nervous! Getting the spacing correct etc. So happy that you have your new camera. 🌺

I’m sure everyone who sees your videos immediately rushes off to their sewing machines as you inspire us all! Great dress! What a beautiful colour on you. Love your tips, I learn so much. Thank you! 💕 I know this is old so you may not see it but I have a question . After a few failures getting back to garment sewing after decades and 4 kids later, everything has shifted and gone south 🥴🥺 so I’m having to learn all these fitting techniques. I always thought it was simply buy the pattern that closest fits your bust, hip, or waist- whichever is most relevant to the pattern you are sewing. This high bust/full bust/ fba thing is new to me. Am I correct with my learning that you should buy the pattern that fits your high bust and then do a fba if the difference is more than 4 inches ( as is mine). Does that always work.? Is that why I’m getting gaping around th e upper chest area / neckline.? I’m trying not to get overwhelmed by all these adjustments, I can and I am learning. I usually am in a rush to sew so I have to tell myself to slow down, and take actually more time adjusting patterns etc before actually sewing the actual garment. I’ve lost 56 pounds this year too, so it’s been lots of fun trying to keep up with pattern sizes and adjustments while still trying to make things that fit! I literally have no clothes that fit as I went from season to season! And now summer approaches and I want summer dresses because everyone wears them here until at least April from now!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 3 года назад
Hi Cheryl. Typically a pattern is drafted for a B cup that has a 2” difference. With a 4” difference a FBA makes sense but from the base of what the pattern has a high bust (the high bust is not usually in the pattern chart). I have a video on dolman FBA but the first part that explains it will help a lot. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WEowKEgv1MY.html. If your high bust was 42”, you wouldn’t chose the size that has a full bust of 42” and do an FBA, you’d choose the size that has a 44” full bust that has a 42” high bust like yours and add 1/2” FBA per cup size extra you need. In your case, a 4” difference is a D cup and you’d need two more cup sizes, making it a 1” FBA. It’s all in the video :)

Hello, first of all: thank you for putting time and energy in helping us novices out, much appreciated. I wish someone would explain how the pinning down of the colar is done.. It's like every tutorial just skips that part when I found that to be the most difficult, especially since I'm working with a colar, a lining and the bodice itself that all need to be sewn together. I've watched so many tutorials and everyone of them is just like "tadaa" magically the colar is pinnend down all of the sudden hahah.. And I'm like noooo HOW did you do that? I keep sewing wrinkles into the neckline and I tried 5 times already.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 года назад
You might have stretched out your neckline and It’s longer than the collar? Did you stay stitch your neckline? Pinning is not a race and it’s tedious. I’ll never film all that pinning or else the videos would be extremely long and boring. I’d also suggest hand basting it instead of using a lot of pins. That could also be easier and probable take the same time as to pin.
@WazigeLogica
@WazigeLogica 2 года назад
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Thanks very much for your quick reply! Yes, I tried stay-stitching the neckline and the fabric in the neckline indeed seems to become longer everytime during the procces of putting it together. I use regular cotton without stretch. I had also hand based one of the colars to the neckline first when I almost had it lined up nicely but still I was sewing in wrinkles afterwards. I do the measuring right but the neckline everytime will end up longer.. Anyways, I understand you won't make a video about pinning but it would be great if someone did.. I might do it myself one day when I finally have mastered it :) So far this pinning of a standing collar has been the most difficult sewing thing for me. I have decided I am going to work on other sewing skills for a while because it has become too frustrating. Thanks again lady!

Karina, I have watched this several times. I'm confused about the collar. The directions are different than what you did? I agree that I want the interfaced piece on the outside. Their directions confused me. It shows sewing it on first I think. Should I sew them together before I attach? BTW mine doesn't seem to fit. I have clipped it. I will keep trying. I'm using Quilting Cotton. Does my remarks make sense?

I do not follow pattern instructions when I sew. So you can’t expect to see instructions replicated in my videos. Remember there are many ways to do things and I base what I do on my experience. This is an old video and I don’t show all the details. Please see this newer one where you’ll see more steps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pNtmsYMXXYY.htmlsi=RwGwWPn9gctdiPXv this is the way I find the easiest.

your videos are well made & you are very informative, but I have major problems hearing you. You have such a soft sweet voice that it's necessary to turn the volume up full, then BOOM the music is suddenly too loud, so volume goes down; music stops & can't hear you again, so volume goes up LOL. You may benefit from a cheap personal mic, which would pick up your gentle voice better - the distorted echo in the room by the door may also imp. rove. Best wishes.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 4 года назад
I have a very good quality profesional microphone on the camera and the sound inside my house is echoey due to the ceramic floors (no rugs) and General emptiness of the spaces (I’m a tad minimalist). This is why I try to film mainly outside to not have the echo. There are days it’s raining and horrible outside and that leaves me no other option. About the music, I am careful about the volume of it during the video, bringing it down to minus 20 decibels in every segment, but I can double check that. Thank you so much for the feedback. I am filming at home and I don’t have a professional studio. I try my very hardest to do the best I can. Also, the sound can differ from device to device (brands or tablets/tv/pc).
