Hi Quilty Friends! Today I am going to show you how to sew the Cookie Quilt Block from the Perfect 5 Quilts book by It’s Sew Emma. This quilt is the first 3 charm pack quilt in its category. I am SEW excited because I am halfway through this book. I have 4 charm pack quilts to make and then four 4 charm pack quilts. I may use a layer cake or two for that category! I truly am loving every part of this journey. Thank you for being a part of it.
For the Chocolate Chip Quilt, I am using two fresh Christmas fabric lines by Moda. The collections are called Merry Manor Metallic and Pines and Poinsettias Metallic. I have 2 charm packs of Merry Manor Metallic and 1 charm pack of Pines and Poinsettias Metallic. The background I am using is a sweet cream with sparkling snowflakes. I am feeling a little tempted to make a Valentine's or Halloween quilt too! Who knows, I may end up getting some charm packs to do so.
You will need to purchase the Perfect 5 Quilts book by It’s Sew Emma to quilt along with me. You can make one or all the quilts! By the end of this series, you’ll have all the guidance you need to make any of these beautiful quilts.

You do a great tutorial! It’s refreshing to watch someone that enjoys what they are doing and explains it well! I’ve lost count on quilts… well over a 100 because I’ve given away 65 to family members

I've been quilting over 45 years. I started before owning a sewing machine, so you hand-stitchers know the work we put into a quilt. The comment I really want to make is the vast amount of videos are now featuring pre-cut packs, pre-mixed materials, which are in my budgeted opinion are too expensive. Plus, one of my favorite parts of sewing is selecting my materials . . . each material I want to look at and feel the texture. The other part of pre-packaged materials is giving me the correct measurements translated into yardage. Please consider some videos making a quilt without pre-packaged materials.

Sadly, today's new quilters are all about precuts, sew-on-the-line papers; specialty rulers so they can cut off a dog ear and 'git 'er done". I think we are lucky to have started so many years ago and can therefore appreciate the work and joy of quilting.

It is fun picking out fabrics at the store and I really enjoy that process. I’ve been sewing for forty years and made my first quilt all by hand. I prefer to starch my fabric before cutting, so I do like to purchase larger pieces. I think she began this series because she had so many charm packs in her stash and wanted to get creative and use them up. I must admit that I too have a few charm packs to get through, so I’m finding this series inspirational.

I sewed all my life, but color combinations is not my forte, but packages or lines of fabric (designers) quilting have help me start quilting

I hate pre-cuts, bc with the pinked edges, I can never get accurate sized blocks. I made a bargello with pre-cuts and it came out horrendous. And no, I'm not even going to attempt to trim each strip/block down. Twice as much work as just cutting up fabric.

I take the teeny-tiny scraps and put in a basket and put outside. The birds take them to use in their nests! 😂

Emerald, love all your videos...have recently had some strokes...so all your instructions are therapy to me...FQS should put you on staff...they do a lot of work behind the scenes and I do not see the great hints you supply...having a patron account would let you go into more depth...blessings and best wishes...ps...you have 2600 followers ❤❤
