It’s always interesting to see how guys in other locals do things. For instance at home we don’t call it a jag. Just a load or a bundle. An old timer once told me, when you’re booming out, do just as the locals do, so it’s nice to hear the jargon and see how people work at other locals.

This guy gives a speech about making the contract and wondering about making himself more money 6 minutes and 28 seconds exactly stop video and zoom in on that Pelican hook unloader the top where it comes out of the eyelid the Pelican hook there are so many broken strands that thing is totally Unwound Whiskey Tango Foxtrot I want to make the contract with more money that spreader you're using is that maximum 40% of the rated load freaking rookies with GoPros don't even know what they have in their hands if I received a load on a spreader like that the first thing I would do is grab a deck saw or a cut that I right off of it look at it only takes the blink-of-an-eye for one more strand to go that hold Ilyich to unwind and drop that hold right in your lap it

@@carlboucher2643 that “spreader” is good for over 30tons... the “pelican” (shake out hook) is just designed to shake out.. there’s nothing unsafe about this except for hand position at times but all hand position was an eductated risk and I have all my fingers

@@ChantzFabz them pelican hooks actually weren't designed to shake out steel, but designed just as a hook without the mouse and not having to deal with it, the mouse/gate, but the manufacturers of them hooks know what we as ironworkers do with them even though they are not designed for it, so they make em strong enough for 30tons. Look it up if you don't believe me, it says it, find it.

6 ft piece of short rope use it like a tagline you hook the hook without a safety latch on your end as soon as you can reach it

Use Of Shake Out Hooks Shake out hooks should not be used for erecting steel. Shake out hooks may be used for off-loading and at ground level for shaking out steel that is bunched or improperly stacked. This helps avoid pinching hands, fingers, and legs. Shake out hooks should not be used in conjunction with chokers. 🙏🙏🙏

What local were you out of...??? This is called shaking out... my 7/8 line is good for over 30k a few broken strands are not the end of the world, especially because it’s picking maybe at max 20% or it’s SAFE WORKING LOAD not even the breaking strength haha get out of here with all this nonsense
