Very useful! Something missing in most videos i watch is a real tutorial about how to adjust the rocker (by hand or with the power planer) when the blank doesn't fit your measurements, thanks a lot Zack!!

Question. How does one know the rocker of a board? Aside from preference.. I’ve got a 5’6 I want to stretch out into the 6’6. Say the nose rocker on the 5’6 is 3 1/2, what might the rocker be once stretched out to give similar feels on bigger waves? Been thinking do the same rocker and see how it comes out.

So… there are a few ways rocker is determined when stretching a board. I will usually increase rocker the longer the board gets. If you keep the rocker at 3 1/2” it would end up creating a lower rocker profile. This is because the 3.5” of rocker is stretched over an extra 6” Of board. This will make the board feel more stiff because of the longer rail line and less rocker. The other way I determine rocker is by looking at the outline. A basic rule of thumb is the faster the outline’s curve increases, in the same area, the bottom rocker should increase. For example, the end of the board is usually where the most outline curve is and the bottom rocker follows that. That is why there is a flip in the nose and tail. Hope that makes sense and is useful.

@@zack_flores got it! That does make sense. Thank you 🙏🏼 And to get specific without being too annoying, would adding a foot in length allow adding 1” of nose rocker? And say 1/2” increased tail rocker? I can respect there’s no formula for this, but just wondering what your throughs might be. Cheers
