Tricks of masters and useful devices!! And you didn't know!! Useful tips for sharpening drills! Tricks of the Old Masters! SECRETS of masters how to sharpen a drill!
Oh god within the first minute i saw a monster use a hammer on a step bit and finger wagging. Dam the rusty bit along with the drill transformed into a shiny bit and a cabled drill, crazy magic going here.
Gość niech przestanie niszczyć narzędzia! To nie ostrzenie, to katastrofa. (Let the guest stop destroying the tools! This is not a sharpening, it's a disaster!)
If you sharpen the drill correctly , it won't get hot enough to require quenching . Besides that this is just another click bait video put together by some unskilled " expert ". You only have to look at the swarf coming off the bit after it's " sharpened " to see that it is chipping rather than cutting its way through the stock , because he has ground the bit in one plane only without regard to the trailing edge . That will not allow the bit to dig in and cut . It won't last either . Don't get me started on the conglomeration of junk to pull off this stunt . For the same money or less you could buy a small 150 mm bench grinder from your local tool store and do the job properly , or spend half that and get one of those units that you bung on the end of your drill which are foolproof . IE , even fools can't shag their drill bits using these things ??
@@grayamdelaney7044 sorry Grayam, I was toolmaking for 50 years before I retired, if I had not quenched the drill when I was an apprentice | would have got a "clip round the ear" from one of the "old hands"! Actually ground properly the leading cutting edge of the drill bit has a thin cross section, so will get hot very quickly and so coolant is always required. From the front cutting edge the rake angle (giving clearance) the cross section gradually becomes thicker, so wont get so hot so quick, but the very front edge must be tackled very carefully. The drill in question has had its front angle almost completely removed, therefore has has a "serious regrind" which will require quenching or the front edge will lose its hardness and its cutting life seriously reduced! You are correct regarding "trailing edge" (rake angle) giving it clearance allows it to cut and swarf will fly, without that it will rub and chip and not last 5 mins!
Erstens: Bohren ohne Schmieren bzw. Roland. Da hat einer wohl umsonst gelernt.
