Perhaps worth mentioning the 'burr' concept when sharpening - creating a burr on one side, which tells you you've reached the edge and flipping to the other side to flip the burr back, then step down to a finer grit, etc. Most people never create a burr and hence don't get a sharp edge!

Great job! Love it! Beautiful job. I'm still building up my axe arsenal and really enjoying contrasting all the designs and strengths and weaknesses of the different brands and styles. I love the cutting abilities of the Gransfors and the design of the head and the handles. I'm a little let down on the quality of the handles from the grain orientation to the sap/heartwood mixing and the sheaths/guards are very minimal quality. Those last two things I believe should be the best in the world because they are asking the best price and are supposed to be the best by many accounts. Still at the top of my list dont get me wrong, but other axe manufacturers have much better sheaths.

Great job Wade.... I'm glad you got back OK. I'm a huge fan of Autosol. I use it on my knives as well as axes. It seems a lot cheaper over here that Tormek, and does pretty much the same job. Thanks for taking the time mate :) Have a great weekend, all the best, Mark :)

In Boy Scouts, we learned to pound wooden stakes in ground to make a temporary vice. Then sharpen axe with blade held firmly. I just use my vice. Expect to have more uniform edge. You did a great job, but maybe someone else might do better with vise.

Thanks for the input my friend that's a good tip. For a major sharpening job or if I'm going to reprofile an edge I'll use my vice as well. Thanks for watching✌️

Looks good Wade👍 Here’s another quick tip for getting rid of that spruce gum. Margarine, it breaks it down almost immediately. See you on the next one.

Very helpful Wade. Its more fun watching you doing this than doing it by myself. Last time i was cutting myself badly lol. Yeah, in my case a dull blade seems to be safer... just kidding. Thanks for the input, this blade-maintanance-set seems to be a cool all-in-one-option. And this axe is a real beauty imo. 8Ksubs soon my friend

Incredible job. Do you ever use Boiled linseed oil as apposed to beeswax. Ive tried both and they work great

I have used both and both probably work equally well. The important thing is to maintain your tools. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!👍
