I don’t remember ever having long hair in my #childhood not even #teenage years…never!
My #memory will similarly resonate with many African…

girls even today at almost over 99% across #Sub-Saharan #Africa. Well, I would say with increased westernisation in Africa that #people get through #movies and more #international schools perhaps more girls especially in the cities may be growing more hair. But that increasing change will be far away in our #traditional African #cultural #villages.
We keep our hair short. And if going to #school it may be close to a bald hahaha even if one is a #girl or #boy.
Some #students confidently wish for a #French cut #hairstyle to pause at #friends.
Though #hair today is preferred to be #shaved in contemporary #saloons using #electric #equipment, in traditional Africa hair has been shaved by other means such as sharpened edge #stones, broken #pots, #knives, including new methods like the #razor blade as we share in this #documentary.
(I would add some people may use broken #bottles too but that would be ridiculous hahaha)
What most of us know today is that razor #blades or #scissors are what have been used for shaving the head. It will require more in depth #research what stone edge Africa our #ancestors used and when I equipped further this question among a group of #elderly women they mentioned- in the #Acholi or #Acoli culture, sharpened broken pot pieces were used.
However, we could not use the pot piece on the child.
The’re are still many means we are yet to #explore what methods other #ancestry #cultures used. #Subscribe
However, that’s not to say we hardly plait hair, there are many #African #tribes whose high #tropical #temperature places is associated with long hair that’s #plaited to perhaps shield from the #sun but also a sign of #beauty and #warrior for #women and #men respectively such as the #Karamojongs, #Masai #cattle keepers living on the borders #Uganda, #Kenya and #Tanzania including #Himba tribe of #Namibia, #Fulani-
It will mean the world to us when you click #subscribe, like and comment. Thank you- Smiles:-)

Oh that’s wonderful to hear, thank you! We currently have about three more shaving documentaries aligned in near future. We are also still practicing out carefully before using the actual old traditional ones- hopefully open release, the internet will be fair in judgement when we actually go real real tradition like our Stone Age ancestors with the actual broken or sharpened stuffs like stones & bottles as mentioned.
