Tell me your shaving process and tools.

sooooo baaaad thinking! 1st: yea, good for you for keeping it lowcost. 2. Wet shaving is a treat, makes you have a good experience and start the day fresh. Like a morning spa for man. 3. Shaving cream, brushes all that are in general business that offer workplaces for it's direct business and collateral business: delivery service, demand for containers, demand for printing etc.

I actually did change my thinking; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ij_9y3gvMAY.html

You've made more passes than you would've with proper shaving soap. That tiny bottle costs twice as much as a puck of decent soap and you'll go through it twice as fast. The rest is conspiracy theories. I shave twice a week and still not gone through my one year old soap, c'mon. Dunno about 4 years ago but nowadays there are many options available - all natural and good for your skin. There's also preshape if you're that sensitive. YMMV of course but that soap conspiracy is nonsense. Nothing personal tho, hope you enjoy your shaves.
@FashionableFather

Ease off on the conspiracy theories partner. Your right I may be a lil excessive, but companies in general always recommend more than you need, it’s just means more money. I will always say preshave oil is more important than soap hands down, and it travels better for the perpetual plane fella. I’ve skipped oil and had had not great shaves, but not when I’ve skipped soap. That being said; i now enjoy the crap out of soaps and all they have to offer; LOL. Please partake in more recent videos and judge my horrible lather.

Is the razor you used in this video good for beginners? Also, how long does it take to adjust coming from cartridge razors because I’m having a hard time finding the right angle.
@FashionableFather
@FashionableFather 2 года назад
Yes! It works well and just be gentle with your skin at first to find the right angle. I’d say 4 shaves and you’ll be on point. Another good razor is the supply edge; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N-ejUSUZ-Us.html. Watch and tell me what you think.
@jetsfan4277
@jetsfan4277 2 года назад
@@FashionableFather I actually bought that one recently, I’m still adjusting to it after using my a cartridge razor for a few years. I’ve only used it 2 times so far. I didn’t get a close shave but I think it’s because I wasn’t using the proper angle.
@FashionableFather
@FashionableFather 2 года назад
@@jetsfan4277 Yeah I noticed the supply edge doesn’t get as close. Definitely try the double edge. There’s more room for angles and finding your comfort. How often do you shave?

@@FashionableFather I shave 2 times a week. I noticed in this video you were shaving effortlessly. Is that something that comes from experience or is it actually safe to use a DE razor ? I’m worried about the nicks and cuts and having to shave slowly every time.
@FashionableFather
@FashionableFather 2 года назад
I shave about twice a week as well. At first take your time. You’ll get better and more confident. However I still get cuts and nicks sometimes when I’m not careful. The reason I use these single edges is to keep from getting irritated skin. Irritation I believe comes from the ridiculous blades on your skin. A knick goes away, irritation stays. So yes these blades need your skill, but the skill will be rewarding.

A little honest constructive criticism. I agree about using a preshave oil for softening and lubrication. The use of a brush is to lift the wiskers and lather to keep them elevated, along with additonal lubrication. Try using a classic soap such as Cella, there's a reason why it's been around since the 1890's. Use short light strokes(blade buffering) to aid against razor burn. Actually, you have more of a chance irritation by using long strokes. Rinse and finish with an aftershave or astringent. Turn a daily task into an enjoyable treatment. 👍🪒

Hey I have somewhat of a similar jaw line and skin issues as it appears you, which makes it a bit hard to get a close shave around the neck with the safety razor. I was wondering if you are still using the Supply razor and how that has been working re: skin irritation and closeness.
@FashionableFather
@FashionableFather 3 года назад
Yeah I have to be very sensitive with my shaves. Cleanliness is key for me. I must also admit, though I LOVE shave secret oil, I have introduced soap again to my shave. I use Stirling Shave Soap; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ij_9y3gvMAY.html. It seems to help alot; I get no irritation and a closer shave. Also beyond shave; check your collars on your shirts, I used to let my old job launder my work shirt and I finally deduced that my neck irritation came from that. I regretfully returned the Supply razor. It was a smooth shave, but thought it excessive to have two perfectly good razors. Now I wish I had kept it. Thanks for watching.

@@FashionableFather I just saw your gift guide from last week and you mentioned the Supply is a good gift. I did noticed your Stirling video. I have tried their soap as well. I tend to go with the Cella brand, I love the scent and I bought an enormous brick of it a while back! Lol

What are the benefits of using the ice on the face after shaving?
@FashionableFather
@FashionableFather 3 года назад
In general there are many benefits to rub ice on your face. You’ll see by just googling it. I do it because it’s ridiculously soothing and also closes my pores after the shave. So after a shave seems an opportune time to take advantage. Does that help?

I use Feather blades, shave every day and change blades once a week. One of my favorite soaps cost about $1.50 and lasts about two months. I have a synthetic brush that cost me about $10.00. If I stick with those tools I can shave for about 5 cents a day. For another penny I can add Gabel’s Bay Rum to finish my shave. I search for good prices and I purchase in quantity to save on products. The point I make is that it is possible to use a brush, soap, and aftershave and still enjoy DE shaving without spending a great deal of money. It is possible for a person to spend A LOT of money on luxury shaving supplies. But it isn’t necessary to buy those high-end products and still have the enjoyment of a brush and lather. I have used that Shave Secret and even carry it in my travel kit for shaving on-the-go. But it does not work as well or give me the enjoyment of using my brush. I have the Feather ASD2 razor you mentioned. A gift from my wife. I highly recommend it. But my old Gillette Slim gave me an enjoyable shave without the expense of that investment. One of the important aspects of DE shaving is the pleasure of using products that smell great and enhance one’s enjoyment of the shaving process. It’s not just about the utilitarian function of saving money on the shaving products.

What a fantastic comment! The thing is when I first got the Shave Secret oil, if I were to be honest, I was secretly disappointed to give up the process. So reading this has really brought a fresh light to the enjoyment of shaving and the tools. Thank You!! I may actually borrow those numbers and make another video explaining the "joys" of shaving. I'm jealous of your Feather ASD2. What is your favorite soap?? Thanks for watching and thanks for such an awesome comment.

Fashionable Father Thanks for your positive response. I know what you mean. Wet shaving is something I enjoy and it is more than just a utilitarian act, so I understand what you are saying. But there is so much out there today. You can fall down that rabbit hole and there is no end to what you can spend. I have tried a couple of soaps that are more expensive but I don’t want to spend a lot of money on the “luxury” products. I think that one of my favorite better soaps is Stirling soap. At about $13 it is relatively inexpensive while performing fantastically. A tub lasts me about 4 months. A couple of more inexpensive options are the shave sticks (I prefer Polmolive and La Toja). Perhaps the best budget option is Williams Mug soap which is $1.50. I enjoy the sweet lemony scent. And you can get an inexpensive Burma Shave boar bristle brush for $5.00. I find the best prices online. By planning ahead and ordering these items as add-ons I can often get free shipping. My wife got the ASD2 slightly used online but it is my favorite. I feel very fortunate.
