West Coast Shaving Glogg & Tutorial : The First Pass
Matt here with another Daily Shave video and vintage straight razor shave, brush review, and straight razor tutorial.
The Brush: West Coast Shaving Honeycomb Brush with 26mm three band finest badger knot. This brush handle is the same size and shape as the ancient stone collection brushes, with a sensational resin honeycomb design that really pops. The knot is fairly dense but not a lather hog. The loft is set at a sweet spot giving it nice scrub and minimal floppiness. The fan splays and releases lather easily due to the innovative low profile glue bump that is set deep within the handle. This brush is offered in green, white or blue, in badger and synthetic.
The Soap: WCS Glogg. This is a 8/10 scent strength aromatic mulled wine scented soap. The scent is warm and spicy with a predominant fruity red wine scent and supporting notes of dried fruits, oud and warm spices. The excellent duckfat base by Vida from Oleo Soapworks is a great all around performer with a top notch post shave feel.
The Razor: Tanifuji Spalding 6/8 full hollow spike point (1950’s - 1960’s)
The Aftershave: Glogg has the same mulled wine scent as the soap, with a more prominent booziness. This splash’s scent performance is firmly in beast mode territory, noticeable for 10+ hours on my skin. Alcohol-based with a nice mix of skin food, it leaves the face with a silky smooth feel.
