I’m 45 and a newbie here. Just have an iPhone and immediate interest in making video and I believe that nobody is too old to learn. Came across your videos a few time and you are the best in explaining difficult techniques into easier ones with the soothing voice. I do appreciate that, thank you so much. Subscribed! 🙂
Ahhh i love that gimbal but sadly it covers up the port of my phone where I cant add a microphone. I tried turning my phone upside down too but the clamp covers my power button on the phone. Very sad about this because I absolutely LOVE that model!
Thanks so much for this video. I love how you enforce the tell a story theme. There are some great tips in this video. Could you make a video discussing filming movement, like exercising, dance or martial art training please?
Dude, you & your channel are a Godsend! We are starting a RU-vid channel, well.. just uploading our adventures and the things we get up to really.. (we been adventuring and "van life-ing" *vomit* - before it was cool) Onto our 3rd big van build now so are going to be Vlogging it. Went out and bought a OM5 yesterday and your videos have been elementary in helping us get to grips with it... saved countless hours of trial and error! Thanks soo much Zack
I will be entering the MoMo film fest this year. It will be my first attempt at directing and filming a story with actors. I'm typically more an adventure vlogger. I'm so excited for this challenge and your tips have certainly helped me get to this point. Thanks so much Simon 😁
After a lot of review your voice and video turned out to be the best for me If I imagine anything it seams to be what ever you say Not having any education in this field your videos are always drawn to me Thank you for always posting
It's funny how the artistic concepts of film apply to so many areas of life. Thank you for this great vid! Wonderful examples, fun and comfortable to watch.
As mentioned in the comments in another video. I think I'm going to go ahead on the S21 Basic. Being a still photographer I already have monopods, etc.. I'm looking more at doing B Roll and Real Estate than short film. Second time watching this video it brought back some of the things taught in a digital movie (mostly using Premier) college class I took about 20 years ago (Turned 64 yesterday). One of the tricks taught was letting a collapsed tripod hang under the analog cameras we were using then. I think there are a couple of things people should take away for ANY kind of video work. Planning the shots/storyboarding and lighting. Be it a B roll of a small section of creek or a walk through of a house those are critical to a more interesting, immersive experience for the viewer. It just kind of flashed in my head the idea of using reveal shots to introduce a video tour of a home. Thanks again for solid, well produced, and thought out videos that not only teach by content, but teach by example.
A lot of work gone into this. Great video! I need to mix my B-roll up a bit as I find myself going back to the shots I know work because I just need to ‘get the shot’ to keep my video on schedule
Wow, very impressed by your insights and could not have agreed more. Would love to chat more with you more. Well, that would be hard, yet if you ever visit Sweden! I am an owner of this gimbal and yet still find filming intimidating in some strange way. I'm 66, a whole lifetime of doing product design and shots, yet I guess it is just practice that will help on each step you take. I would have liked to have been able to take longer story modes than the 4 seconds your given? I will certainly think about getting a selfie stick later. I can clearly see just how much effort and work you have put together for this enlightened tutorial and can't thank you enough 🙏🏻 Enjoy your London, I used to live and work in that city too, until I realized that there is more to life living in Sweden!
Brilliant! So far I thought I was doing well even just having some b-roll, but this should take it up to the next level. I thought there was only so much you could do with a plant, but hopefully this will provide some more exciting ideas.
Mate I loved your video. I invested in the osmo3 last year, used it a few times and Parker it in the drawer lol I’ll be pulling it back out after seeing this. Cheers
Thanks for the good tips! I just bought a DJI Osmo 4 and I'm still learning with it. I've already shot some nice images, but these tips really help! Especially the tilt-locked function is very useful!
Thank you once again for another wonderful video with years of experience wrapped up all neat and tidy. The way you managed to get the idea across and always captivates. Thank you so much!
These are great and practical tips. I love the idea of using a monopod as an extension. It simulates those crane dolly shots that were so popular before drones were mass market. Keep up the great work on this channel. Cheers!
Thank you once again Simon. I have watched it several times now. I was worried that when my gimbal (I use an Osmo 3 & a Feiyu Tech G6 max) is static there is a slightly jittery image. I have noticed that you did it on this video & it too was very slightly jittery. I think that I am being a bit paranoid, but I feel better knowing that it can happen to even the best in the business.
Nice video ..Question for you ... Which film or glass protector is better for your phone ?? My galaxy S21 Ultra glass was damage with the DJI OM 4 Clap .... .... Not good ..I am sure I am not the only person who got a bad experience .
Great tips. I learn a lot from your tutorials. Have you used the VLLO editing app? Is it possible for you to make a tutorial on how to effectively use them? I use the DJI Osmo 3 and a Sony Xperia 10 plus when making videos.
Thank you so much for your great videos!! You've given me so much inspiration for my next videos and how to improve them with adding some more interesting shots! Subscribed and can't wait to see what you post next :D
Great video. I'm having issues with using the OM 4 sideways to get the crane style shot with the monopod. It's in tilt lock but when I get it up high the gimbal turns to try and correct itself.
if that happens to me it's usually because it's not exactly sideways. The joystick side needs to be facing towards you. If it's slightly at an angle then it turns
Your so very awesome usefull and entertaining Your the men dude you got my heart thank you for this knowlegde i would apply it on my vlogging activities your so amazing
Thx buddy! Big like and sub+. Looking forward for your future videos.... in this video i like "emotion" part.... very useful! Other is also useful, of course
Do u know any free filming app to install on my phone ? Because I can't film 4k 60fps only 1080p 60fps and it doesn't look good. I have 4k but only 30fps
Hi Simon, I recently found your channel and love the content & have now subscribed. I have a question regarding third party apps and gimbal apps for the iPhone 14 pro. I like the DJI 6 gimbal and wold like your thoughts on using something like Filmic pro as opposed to the DJI app or can they be used in conjunction with each other for a better overall result. Cheers Craig Byrne Australian
hi Craig, personally I use different apps for different features. Even without the gimbal, I use 3 or 4 different apps to film with, including the iPhone's native app (which is the only way you can use cinematic mode)
I really enjoy your videos, they come across as sincere which makes a refreshing change so, thank you for sharing. So, I am watching hoping to learn how to use the DJI Osmo 3 gimbal effectively taking in as many techniques as possible. I take it that there is not a great deal of difference from the Osmo 3 & 4 and that I can follow along? Thank you.
Thank you for your amazing videos! I noticed that when using the DJI OM 4 gimbal through the DJI Mimo app, it seems to override my iPhone12's usual camera "settings". For instance while my iphone camera app shoots Rec709 H.264 file, but when using the gimbal/mimo setup I get HEVC BT.2020 HLG (9-18-9) files. Currently working on a video shoot utilizing a variety of different cameras, the majority shoot in Rec709. Does anyone know if there is a way to control the color space within the DJI Mimo app when operating with this setup?
Sir...thank you for the amazing video! Can you help me understand why my gimbal om 4 wonders off toward the opposite direction I'd like it to when I am trying to walk into another room? It's so frustrating. It will randomly stare off at the wall even though I am trying to balance it. Thanks
