I just watch all 4 videos and immediately hit subscribe, the way you explain and go in detail in short amount of time , definitely one of the best videos I’ve seen on how to edit. I’ll definitely go back and rewatch them again to get step by step. Thank you
I have followed the steps strictly and it worked for me. I find the advice amazing and I bought one of the cameras Philip suggests and also one of the lavaliere microphones. Just amazing. It saved me SO MUCH time not to have to learn from scratch on my own. I didn't even know where to start! Thanks Philip.
Thanks a lot Philip. I now understand that I need to draft a script first, shoot the A roll in one long clip, and many short B rolls as per script. Hope to get more tips about filming in the future 😉
This mini series was so delightfully helpful thank you for being so transparent, patient, and kind for taking your time to explain so many important dynamics of great photography and videography!!! I truly love a person who doesn't gate keep and instead chooses to educate, share, and inspire others w/ grace!
Very helpful tips! I really wanted to make my own cooking channel, not that i’m good but i love doing it. Been collecting necessary equipment but still hasn’t used them.
I've been doing Facebook live cooking and all my friends have been wanting to go on RU-vid. I've been looking for tips and tricks to help me start up and I've learned more today from your videos that i just barely started watching than from when I started sharing on social media. Just subscribed and looking forward to tuning in.
This whole series helped me so much. I have a great phone set up by smallrig and I even use an external monitor to make sure my shots are centered and ready to go. My phone set up is the same as my two cinema rig setups.
What’s Good Phillip!! Hope all is well.. Thank You for this video series. It is very helpful, well done and inspiring. Looking forward to learning more from you. Keep Going Up!!!
OMG!!!! How did I just find your channel!!! Your tutorials are so great! I make overhead DIY videos and wanted to learn some new techniques for filming and lighting. I am so happy I found your channel! Thanks you so much 😄
Another splendid video, Philip. I am planning to purchase the lights mentioned in your video. Could you please elaborate on where exactly you place your lights? In the video they are placed on either side of your island, but some additional pointers (approx. distance from the island, height, angle etc.) would be greatly appreciated! As always, thanks so much.
Your channel is exactly what i have been looking for. Thank you for doing this for us wanna be's....I just joined your FB group as well! So much to learn....but all get there! Thx again ❤️
This tutorial will help me improve in making my videos, specially that I only use my iPhone to create my food videos. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Phillip, just found your channel, glad I did. Excellent advice all around, My wife and I have had a cooking channel for the last 3.5 years, we are just about to hit 17k subs, and it has been a grind, but we are finally starting to see the fruits of our labor. I wish I had seen your videos while starting out, I have learn much over the years thru the school of hard knocks...LOLz. sometimes I look at my older videos and they are hard to watch, but then I realize we have come a long way. Our channel is "CookingwithRody" in Spanish because my wife is Panamanian, but all ingredients are listed in Spanish and English thru-out the video. If I could humbly add one thing at min 3:50 you suggest setting to 4K, one caveat, If you have a newer powerful computer to handle the file sizes absolutely. In the event that your computer is a little older or not as powerful, iPhone's 1080p/30fps is still amazing and once recorded and edited you can upload video in 4K, voice of experience this makes for a smoother experience with older computers. just a suggestion.
Excellent work sir. Other guys' videos: I knew there was something missing but how would I know what it was?! You remember what beginners need to know. (Like "A roll" - I knew there was something I needed to know). Excellent!!
Little suggestion I would go with 24 frames a second as 60 can give you a soap opera effect , the standard on TV and movies is 24 frames a second , it just looks more professional 😊😊
Thank you so much. I don't have an expensive phone.Even then i am trying to give a beautiful vlog to everyone.plzz pray for me. Love from Bangladesh ❤️❤️
Hi! These are great tips. I arrived on this video because I’m looking to solve a very particular problem that I can’t seem to find the answer to. When I shoot video with my iPhone, and the lighting changes slightly, the colours of the video changes dramatically. so it’ll look normal, and then it’ll look super green or super pink for a few seconds, and then it will go back to normal . I feel like it must be a setting in iPhone to “turn off auto-light compensation” or something but I don’t know where to find it. I will add that I am using artificial light, soft boxes, and these lighting changes are only happening because I’ll for example lift my arm up to sprinkle some salt into the food or I’ll move my body slightly and it’ll somewhat change the amount of light making it into the shot from the soft box. It’s impossible to fix in post production because the colour changes gradually as I move, and there isn’t one specific frame where I can pinpoint it. I’m hoping you or one of your viewers has experience this and can help me figure it out! Thanks
Hey yeah so this is basically cause the iphone camera is in "auto mode" where its automatically adjusting its own exposure when the light changes. The white balance is also on auto so depending on what is in the shot, the camera is trying to adjust the colors to make them look "natural" Or to make anything in the shot what is white, look white. But is there isnt anything white in the shote then it doesn't know how to calibrate the colors. The best way to lock all of these settings and dial them in would be to use a camera app like ProCam for example where you can change these settings.
This was so helpful! I’m growing my YT channel so I will definitely heed this advice and join the group. What tripod are you using in cooking shots in this video? I love the angles you’re able to get.
Im glad it helped! Im using a Manfrotto Befree Travel. Its like $220 tho! There are some WAY cheaper ones out there that will get the job done. Just make sure it has the clip to lock legs! NOT THE TWIST TO TIGHTEN LEGS!!
How do we shoot the video if you don't want to show yourself. I am new to this and feel self-conscious or feel like there will be too many takes. I need to maybe do this in steps of comfortability or familiarity. Do you just do B shots with voice over? Thank-you for your videos.
