Very good....I worked this out a good while ago with some practice and home made hardox 400 targets... Practice is also the key, I use my rifle a lot but from what I read a lot of them only see the light of day when a stalk is booked... Most refreshing to watch you video's

0:30-0:40 is a statement sadly not often heard in videos here on youtube. The animals tend to get far less respect than they deserve. Especially in videos with an origin from "over the pond". I'm sure there is a great bunch of respectful hunters even there, but the level of sh*t circulating here is immense. Thank you for nice and informative videos. Cheers from Sweden.

Very instructive videos Peter. I have a few suggestions that may further improve the shooting/hits, especially at longer range. - Personally, I prefer scopes dedicated to LR shooting with boost up to 20x - Shooting Benches of steel and concrete is preferable instead of benches made of wood. Much more stable when zeroing the rifle. - The thumb hole rifle Blaser R8 used to demonstrate prone shooting w/sling is by far to "front" heavy in my opinion espesially with suppressor used. The rifle will be much more easy to handle by cutting off some inches of the barrell. How much depends on the caliber. All over written with the best intentions and are my personal "views" Please do not misunderstand. And an important factor mentioned by you.....practice practice pratcice makes you a better LR shooter.

The long range target craze here in the US results in some opportunistic marketing of certain calibers, cartridges, bullets and loads to very inexperienced people who do not value the input of their elders, as they are pretty sure what they are learning on social media is much more valid. They call us " boomers" and " Fudd". These are people who couldn't hit a prairie dog at 100 yards with open sights, because they never learned to shoot, so they have to rely on modern shooting aids to try to compensate for lack of skill. As a guy who hunts on foot at high altitude, the less to carry the better. Most hunters show up at the ranch vastly over scoped. They seem to get more cartoon-like every day. One of my Grandpa's rifles, a Savage 99 from 1957 has a period Weaver fixed 4 power that I can drop a deer at 250 yards with a rest. It has a 3/4 inch tube and only parallax adjustment. Even though we shoot prairie dogs at extreme distance as it's great practice, it's been a long time since I've shot at a deer at over about 250. When a long distance shooter, who thinks he's a hunter comes to the ranch, his skills are usually exposed with just the situation you are using here. We find their max range in the 4 military positions and with a backpack rest. We do not allow them to shoot past the range they've proven to be proficient at. You can't assume that no one is capable, or ethical to shoot at much further distance, though. You get that man occasionally who's perfectly comfortable at 450-500 yards, has enough gun to do it and can prove it. He still ends up taking his deer with about 150 yards more often than not, though. We do not allow the use of our wildlife for " testing" and we find a few animals on the public land that are wounded and never retrieved. We've even seen people shoot across our private pasture, kill a deer or elk, then realize they have no legal method to retrieve. We let them take the animal, but it's a hefty trespass fee, where had they just asked, we likely would let them hunt for free.
