It's not possible with such aperture, you will either have to blur the background manually during editing, or use a flash that supports high speed sync (HSS) so you'll be able to bring down your aperture to around F2.0 or below, and then compensate for that too much exposure by increasing your shutter speed.
Yes any studio light will work but if you’re shooting out doors it more convenient to use battery powered lights. The soft box and umbrella are modifiers that affect the way your light Tuch’s your subject. It’s really another full lesson. What do you think, should we make a tutorial on that?
