I quite like a picot edge too. Very pretty finish I think.

Thankyou, most helpful. I am thinking of making a long sleeved cardigan with bagged out elbows into a short sleeved one. When you have finished the edge with the blanket stitch, does that mean that you no longer have to worry about the knitting unraveling?

Hi, yes. But it does depend a bit on what type of fibre (yarn) it is made of and the size of the knitting. Also, if it is going to be under pressure. Wool/wool mix tends not to ladder much at all because the fibres are hairy and yarns stick together. Small stitches are good too. If the knitting stitches are large and yarn is softer/silky then I would put a stitch through each loop - could be back stitch or chain. Do look at the video on turning a dress into a jumper for the idea as I stitch through each loop on the rib - a bit different but gives you an idea. The pink cashmere cardigan with chain stitch on the rib will also give you ideas. Hope this is all helpful.
