After I watched this video, I went back to the first episode of Haikyuu!!, towards the end of the episode, when Hinata thanks his classmates for joining in the volleyball match that they just played. I think he said, きょうありがと! Is this like a more casual version of 4:57 きょうしゅくです?

Thank you for leaving a comment. We appreciate you cross-checking our lessons with your actual language exposures. To answer your question, “きょうありがと!” means “Thank you for today!” Without the word “きょう”, “ありがとう” becomes casual which is “Thanks!” in English which is also the friendly version of the word “きょうしゅくです。”. Should you have further questions, don’t hesitate to leave your comments to any of our video.
