What I love about BS POP Shuvs is how you can catch the board with both feet or you can try and be extra steezy and catch it with your front foot and back foot way steezed out hahaha. It’s a trick that you can very easily control. Its one of the simplest yet most satisfying tricks. One of my favorites.

Especially the scoop to rotate the board completely 180 degs. I land them more at a 120 deg angle. Any tip for that?
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop 2 года назад
Thank you for the kind words! 😅 As for the FS Pop shuv, you might just need to jump a little more and get a solid pop for a split second more airtime. It took me a long time to figure out SF shuvs! I finally realized that it's pretty much all in the ankle and less of a push forward with your leg. Make sure you get a solid jump, an jump behind you a little bit. When you pop the board, focus more on a good snap with the ankle, and less on throwing your leg out in front of you. Also don't aim the pop straight out, angle it slightly towards the nose, so the board will travel with you better. (It's so much harder to explain tricks via text! 🤔). I mean, you're already landing on them, so you'll figure out what adjustment you have to make and you'll have 'em dialed. 👊🛹🍻 - Tim

Best shuvit tutorial ever made... One question: i have shuvits and popshuvits in my bag, but I still land them with my feet in a narrow position on the board, this sometimes let the board slip under them, making me fall. I can shuv, ollie, fs 180 and other basic tricks but I can’t pop shuv for the life of me. Even when I put all my effort into popping it doesnt go higher than an inch off the ground, I’ve literally been trying this trick for 1 year and a half and I still can’t get it. Do you have any advice??
@ChungoUnfed
@ChungoUnfed 2 года назад
More specifically the main problem is height, I pop straight down, bend my knees and it doesnt go any higher than a regular shuv. On the rare occasion that it does its so far in front of me that when both my feet touch the board it goes spiraling away from me
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop 2 года назад
Since you can already ollie, I would suggest trying to jump and pop it similar to that. Be sure to get a solid jump upwards first. The jump always comes first and initiates the trick, and you pop the board when your body is on the way up. The pop is going to be slightly angled, but it's mostly straight down and it's all in your calf muscles to extend that ankle to smack down the tail. What kind of board are you using? Is it worn out/cracked and/or soggy? Just trying to diagnose what's goin' on. 👍🛹 - Tim

Any tips for pop shuv to manual? I can do it to nose manual, but not regular manual. Last time I stuck one I cracked my board
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop 2 года назад
That's kind of a tricky one because the trick naturally tilts the board for a nose manual. I'd suggest being sure you get a really solid pop so the tail can bounce up and level out as much as you can, and also you need to clear both trucks up the pad because you're landing on the back wheels only. You may also need to have a little more weight on your back foot on the initial jump/pop. You'll definitely need to catch it with both feet at the same time and really push that back foot down. I completely understand cracking the tail on the trick because we're trying to reverse the tilt and bring the back truck down quickly. Are you having trouble continuously landing bolts, or is it holding the initial balance? - Tim

@@tacticsboardshop thanks for the reply. That’s a good suggestion. I usually land it and I’ll kind of be just barely in a manny. I’ll try to give it another go.

If the board goes infront of you it’s because you need to keep your shoulders straight, that happens when you lean back
@profjonb6944
@profjonb6944 Год назад
This might be dumb, but how do you get your front foot out of the way? Once I lift it up, the board just immediately pops up in tandem with it and my board just gets caught before i can even scoop.
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop Год назад
It all comes down to timing. The board is going to naturally follow close behind your foot, but if the board is popping up and smacking the underside of your foot, then you're either not lifting your knee toward your chest fast/high enough, or you're not angling the pop enough so it's just coming straight up to your front foot. Also, I like to keep my front foot kind of in the middle of the board and that gives the front part of the board a little more room to travel upward and rotate. Are you trying shuv-it or Pop shuv-it? - Tim
@profjonb6944
@profjonb6944 Год назад
@@tacticsboardshop Trying pop shuv-its, but honestly I haven't landed a regular shuv-it either because of the same issue. I have a solid ollie that I can ride around with but I also think my brain thinks "oh we're popping, time to slide forward and level out" and any deviation from that is met with extreme resistance. I'll try and really exaggerate what you said. Thanks for such a fast reply!

I have the scoop perfect, the front foot perfect, the only problem is that I can't lift my back foot high enough after I scoop. Any tips?
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop 2 года назад
That height in the back foot is going to come from the initial jump. You might have to put a little more effort into the vertical jump and then commit to getting your back foot up immediately after the scoop (shuv) / pop (pop shuv). Is your back foot going to the ground immediately after the scoop? - Tim
@proddanyy
@proddanyy 2 года назад
@@tacticsboardshop Yeah, my back foot is basically just scooping then instantaneously going to the ground. The board rotation is perfect, it's 180 degrees. The front foot landing is perfect, it's right on the bolts, but the back foot just can never get high enough to land.
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop 2 года назад
@@proddanyy If you're getting the rotation perfectly, then it's all just a commitment issue. Maybe try finding some kind of bike rack or something to prop yourself up to give yourself some moon-gravity and re-train your back leg to get on the board. I have a few tricks like that myself where I've developed the muscle memory to instantly plant my back foot. To me, skateboarding is 90% mental and the hardest part is just willing your body to take the risk of committing to an unknown feeling of landing a new trick. Another way to practice shuvits that I didn't mention in the video is to try it on carpet with no trucks. It pretty much eliminates any chance of falling. It obviously will feel very different than doing it with trucks/wheels, but it can be another confidence builder for getting that back leg on the board. I know you can get it! 🙏👊🛹 - Tim

My shuvs are very hit or miss. Seems the rotation of the board rotates almost around the front truck so when I jump forward a bit only my front door lands on the (new) tail. How do you keep it under you, or even a bit in front of the toes but not 45 degrees off the front foot?
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop 2 года назад
Where are you putting your feet? It shouldn't rotate off the front truck (unless you're doing nollie shuvits). Are you leaning back a lot? That might cause the board to travel towards your front foot and not be under you anymore. I know you'll get 'em dialed! - Tim

Hi all, this is one of the most through explanations of shuvits that I had watched. I am ride goofy, so my left will do the scoop of the tail, which as I am right handed is just kind of hard to insert into muscle memory. Well we do need to jump to get the wheels of the ground first, and then do the shove - do I push the board with my right foot in the opposite direction as I am doing the scoop motion with my back foot? Another issue that I am struggling is to wrap my toes around the tail as I wear US 6-7 sneakers. I would appriciate you answer, thank you.
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop 2 года назад
Hey! When shoving the board, leave it all for your back foot (left foot for you). The front foot's (right) job is only to get out of the way to give the board some room to rotate. You don't need to have your back foot hanging way off to get the scoop. Just have the ball of your back foot on the edge of the tail and that should be enough for the shuvit. And with pop-shuvits, you want your foot more centered on the tail anyway. I hope that answers your questions! - Tim
@emirtanju
@emirtanju 2 года назад
Thanks for the reply. I am having a difficult time with the scoop motion of the back foot. I am a righty but skate goofy so my back foot is the left. Would you guys have a video on specifically of the scoop movement? How we press it down, how we are to use our foot to scoop, part by part maybe we can understand it a bit easier. As the scoop is the key here it is to be understood very well. Thank you.
@tacticsboardshop
@tacticsboardshop 2 года назад
@@emirtanju It's pretty much broken down in this video, you'll just have to translate it to your left foot. The scoop isn't a super precise movement. It's mostly just pushing the tail behind you, and figuring out how much pressure and force to use is going to be a matter of trial and error. Just be sure you are trying to commit to landing back on the board and you'll get it. 👍

Just be sure to keep your weight evenly distributed between your feet on the take off and landing. You don't want to lean back at all for this trick, your center of gravity should be over the middle of the board the whole time. Also a wider stance will make balancing a bit easier. Also just practice! Hopefully those small tips will help! 👊🛹🙏 - Tim
