I am glad it helped. Don't let me mislead you. Any coating or paint or even bubble gum can stop small pinprick leaks.. But Aluminum Asphalt coatings are to be used primarily for protection against UV's, hence the Aluminum flakes in it. The asphalt is the bonding agent.

@@FlatRoofDoctor it all makes sense. I look at the roof and there’s aluminum coating. But you can see the black tar on top of the aluminum coating. So it was placed wrong. By the previous owner. So I need to fix that! Thanks!

@@tchavezjr I don't think "placed' wrong. It is possible that the content was not properly stirred. The aluminum is heavier than the asphalt and needs to be stirred in the container often while painting it on.

Yes you can paint over that paint

You can not apply an Asphalt based coating unto EPDM synthetic rubber. It will not work.

never do that it's not compatible with EPDM

No need to use a paint sprayer when I only doing small areas. A roller or brush will also put a thicker coat on and the rubbing effect will add to ensure better adhesion

Also, if possible I'd love for the roof coating color to be white. Just don't want to put something on there that will break down and cause pinhole problems like seen in your other videos.

@@jessielynn7337 I am really not the expert on treating metal roofs. I can repair any roof. Your best bet is to do thorough research on what is the best way to go. My thought is to use Karnak 66 brush grade and roll coat it with that. Then after several months to cover it with Super Silicone Seal. The other thought is to cover the flat part, not the standing seam with Super Silicone Seal. This is just my 2 pennies worth of info. What you should not do is to cover it with paint, acrylic, paint. Any type of latex, acrylic paint will be bad. Sorry that I don't have enough experience in this field. Take care

I have used this product in temperatures of 20 degrees and up. I don't think it is wise to do any roofing below the 20's. Only in emergency

No, silver coating is for protection against rust and UV's. You need to make sure you got the roof sealed against leaks before you do such a coating

Absolutely, only the non-fibered one. That's why they make a non-fibered aluminum asphalt coating. The roof where this video was taken, was spray-coated many years before I got there. It really looked good and I was so surprised. I really believe that this is the coating to use to prevent rust on metal roofs. Thanks for your question Take Care

I assume the membrane is without granules. You can have it coated again when you see the coating wearing off about 15%.

I’m a roofer who does coatings in NYC id say it’s best to re coat after 15-20% wear.

Good point . i want to cover an aluminum roof travel trailer with tared seams on it that could have mimimum bit of ponding spots overall, so thinking the fiber would stand up better to ponding ?

@@normanbaril8024 holy shit i wrote i long reply and then the scroll bar was in my way and i lost everything i said. ok so both my house and garage have metal roofs. my house has seamless and not many issues. i got it painted 2 yrs ago, the only spot that peeled was a spot i had a tree removed and the grit it dropped off the tree onto the roof they didnt power wash off before hand. now as far my garage it seems someone patched on leftover metal they had because its 2 difff types. anyways someone put a layer of silver paint on it non fiber, and then at some point smeared some ugly ass black tar over that making it look awfull. so i been trying to reach the back where my roof leaks. it seems to bond to this black tar whatever it is. its minimized leaking in the areas the nails have popped up. i dont know how well it will bond or if there is a better product to stick to what you have. i used flex seal around a leaky unfinished chimney about 4 cans and that helped but i plan on painting over that to. aluminim fiber is def alot better then just regular aluminum. i still think regular aluminum paint really does nothing but look pretty and maybe have some sun reflection. the fiber is really thick you have to really brush it on. i couldnt even roll it. i get very heavy horrible rain storms here and so far the paints been holding up in the storms. some parts kinda break off if its like a mound. like say your standing there holding a brush and paint drips off the brush onto the roof and you have a dried splash piece, those seems to kinda break off. it sticks pretty decent though. if you have no actual holes where it pools then i could see it giving it a decent layer of protection there in that spot.

@@normanbaril8024 lol so yah in short always pick the fiber over the basic. alot thicker and more protection. basic is like 60 for 5 gallons and fiber is 90-100$ for 5 gall. the extra money is worth the protection of the thickness
