This is a great lesson, Liron. "Impression" is the key word. We often feel we need to make the picture as we see it but that's not true. Our brains can decipher the "Impression". Thank you for this lesson.
Hi Liron! I've just started to get really into urban landscapes and architecture. The buildings can be SO complicated and I am not a very loose painter..yet! I loved watching how you nailed a complex mechanical piece. :-D You just painted what you saw without concern to what it was. Aha! It really is about the values and the shapes! Thanks so much. You are a joy to watch! xx
You're doing amazing work Liron and don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. Keep shining your light and making beautiful artwork. And thank you for all the things you've helped me learn.
This is great. Suggesting the subject gives the viewer the ability to "fill in the blanks" in their mind's eye. We are painters, not cameras. This is also a great loosening up exercise. Wonderful lesson, Liron. I love this way of rendering a scene. Thanks. :)
I truly love seeing you work your sketches, your approach to the simplification process is sooo awesome, truly one of your biggest strengths. Thank you for sharing this video and talking through your process while you work. I always enjoy your mind greatly my friend. Take care from Canada xoxo Ps. I laughed so hard at it being a wagon!!! What I've learned from you in my watercolors is how to work a scene in a limited palette and to use temperature and value instead of focusing on the exact color ect. Just so you know my friend. I'm really grateful to have learned xo
Enjoyed the video. I love the way you communicate what you’re doing, you have wonderful communication skills. I was drawing something the other day and not only was your voice in my head but I caught myself talking out loud saying things like, and this line goes here, and it curves here, and here we go. Lol... it helps a lot! Safe Travels.
Thank you very much for all the tipps in how to let go with watercolors! I m really struggling with this. I can do realistic drawing but I don't like the results 🙈 i want to draw lose but can't let go (not only with drawing) so this is like therapy for me 😂
Dude your a Ninja!!! I could totally see your improvements I'll try it n join you on this watercolor journey in case when day i meet you.. I won't be to awkward lol... 🤜💥🤛
This is an awesome painting! I too get nervouse when you add the dark but always turns out much lighter. It is your video and you can call it a wagon or whatever you like ;-) I signed up for the course!
Great video, thank you. Could you put the name of your gel pen in the materials used under your video? I know you’ve said the brand but I don’t remember 😉
This is great as a generic tutorial video to see how you do stuff, but this is not the first time you pose the question "How to simplify details" in a video title and then never actually talk about that in the video. All you keep saying are "just a little line here" "a little bit of everything, really", "just darken it a bit". What about the how to simplify what we see part? How to know what details are important and which ones to skip? I watched this video especially to learn about the question you posed, and it feels frustrating you never actually addressed it, again.
Zsolt Kocsi my approach to simplify a painting is to identify key edges, key shapes and values. Squinting with your eyes helps you determine what those are. I think that’s what Liron also aims for in this demo without saying it. Watching him in action already says a lot though 😊
