Hello, it's me I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet To go over everything They say that time's supposed to heal ya But I ain't done much healing Hello, can you hear me? I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be When we were younger and free I've forgotten how it felt Before the world fell at our feet There's such a difference between us And a million miles Hello from the other side I must have called a thousand times To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done But when I call you never seem to be home Hello from the outside At least I can say that I've tried To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart Anymore Hello, how are you? It's so typical of me to talk about myself, I'm sorry I hope that you're well Did you ever make it out of that town Where nothing ever happened? It's no secret that the both of us Are running out of time So hello from the other side (other side) I must have called a thousand times (thousand times) To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done But when I call you never seem to be home Hello from the outside (outside) At least I can say that I've tried (I've tried) To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart Anymore (Highs, highs, highs, highs, lows, lows, lows, lows) Anymore (Highs, highs, highs, highs, lows, lows, lows, lows) Anymore (Highs, highs, highs, highs, lows, lows, lows, lows) Anymore (Highs, highs, highs, highs, lows, lows, lows, lows) Anymore Hello from the other side (other side) I must have called a thousand times (thousand times) To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done But when I call you never seem to be home Hello from the outside (outside) At least I can say that I've tried (I've tried) To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart Anymore
Madeleine Harvey lol amen to that😊 he just kept moving further and further away from me but came back when I sandg without the crazy baby voice- I guess I've earned back his approval lol
My dog still loves me and he's pretending he's sleeping but I know he isn't, poor boy. And poor neighbours, it's 3:30 a.m and I guess I should sleep, although I'm so excited about these singing lessons I've just found ( actually a few hours ago:) It's really crazy, unique and amazing. I'm sure it will help me with my singing too. Thank you Madeleine and good night, Santra&cat. He was a poor boy when you were practicing (these techniques of an armed crazy baby and cow:) but I'm sure he's rich already (cause you surely have got a golden voice now;) God bless you.
you mean that poor cat that my neighbors are sure i am currently murdering :'D they are gonna have my most wanted pic at the humane shelter now! lolol Thanks Maddie! You can post my bail ;'D
madeleine harvey my first time to watch your video, amazing great job. I have composed a song while I'm working but I don't know how to tune can you help me for this. title is: "Finding My Way Home"
btw - what you are GIVING is simply awesome...and free. I paid so much money for lessons to get to a point where using your videos alone can be beneficial. And now I may get one of those expensive one hour lessons just once a month. #dope :) thanks
Many people, I believe, would love to hear Listen by Beyonce! You are an awesome teacher, I'm having the most serious audition in my life and I'm practising on your videos! Love you so much!:) THANKS A LOT for your talent and willingness to help!!!
Break a leg at your most serious audition! You're going to do great! Just remember to relax and enjoy the experience! Thank you so much for your kind words!
As a gigging singer myself, I have to say that was a really great way to explain the mechanics of singing that song well. You gave your audience the equivalent of a $200 plus voice lesson. But my experience has shown that those watching are probably going to be held back by fear. You have to really want to "go there" to do this song justice. On a different note, I wish Adele would make an upbeat song soon. These tear jerkers of her's are getting to me....lol!!! Really enjoy your videos. Bob
Yay! I am always so moved by your feedback. Thank you so very much for following all of these lessons! And you are right, to sing a song like this well, the singer really needs to be willing to "go there"; o let the emotions rise to surface and explode. I mean, it's Adele!!! :)
You are so funny and knowledgeable and compassionate all at once. Now, after 30.54 minutes, I can sing better in crazy baby dueling pistol voice than I could before in my normal voice. Seriously, I couldn't touch that song before. Thank you very much for your generosity and excellent pedagogical skills.
Hi Madeleine! I absolutely love your vocal warm ups. I truly am enjoying the process of strengthening my vocal cords with you. You are a delight to work with. Warmly, Nicole & Guide Dog, Jovan
it's awesome that when i was singing this in the car. I felt the same sensations as you are teaching! you are using sensations to help people access & do really complicated things naturally which is amazing

Dear Madeleine, I've just discovered you on RU-vid and love your video on Belting and this video breaking down how to sing Hello! It has opened for me a new universe of my mouth and singing! I think you are an ingenious teacher and your visualisations made so much difference to me!!! Thank you for your youtube lessons, (God bless your talent!!!) and please continue!
I'm a vocal coach as well and just watched this video. I picked up a lot of good tips and things that will help me explain different styles, sounds, feelings, tones and placement. Not every student learns the same so it helps to always find different ways and exercises to explain it. I totally teach a nasally tone to start as well but the Crazy Baby tone is a great way to explain it!
OMG.. :O this helps in understanding how to breakdown a song. Please do more of these videos! Thank you for taking all the pain in creating such helpful videos. Love you, Kavi.
I love the way you teach. It is very refreshing to use the baby cry, moan etc, to work on things. Thank you . Could you break down Patsy Cline's "Crazy" like this?
PASTY CLINE!!!! I LOVE that woman! Grew up in Nashville and my grandparents we constantly listening to Country Gold! I would love to put together a tutorial of "Crazy" for you!
Thank you so much! I studied voice for years, and went to college for performance. Ive been teaching for about 10 years, and in that time, I've just developed a style. Thank you so much for your kind words! Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like to learn anything in particular. Lots of love to you!
I have studied for years also, but I am always looking for new vocal techniques to try. I thought about downloading some of your lessons, but I think that if I could work on songs from tutorials, i would do better. To have a technique for each song would be wonderful. I love inspirational music and would love to find some current ones to work on. For example, Carrie Underwood's "Something in the Water". Or Miley Cyrus, "The Climb".I would also like help with "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth" from Handel's Messiah Could you do these tutorials on video for me to download?
what an awsome lesson! I didn't have the ambition to sing that song, but I learned so much!!! I noticed on your website that you have audiolessons, but video makes it so much clearer what you mean. Also you helped me so much with your other video's, especcially about feeling trapped in your voice. That's how I've been feeling all my life, and my teacher did not know what to do with me. Thank you so much! Playing around making ridiculous sounds helps! Also after doing this video teaching with you, I happened to look in the mirror, and my face looked so alive, I was sort of shocked!
actually I need no more lessons from elsewhere..I got my best coach. thank you so much Madeleine. I want to start singing and I wish I would do it the best.
Kat Khatibi I agree! Hahaha I love singing but I’m definitely not talented, but I tried this today and OMG I’m impressed of the difference, what? I recorded myself and can’t believe hahaha I can actually sing, I’ll keep training... she’s amazing and the best part, is free! Thank you so much Madeline Harvey!
22:00 i laughed so hard. Those eyes XD But it works and thats important :D Keep on. Would love to see some How to sing Evanescence ;) I like how you explain the things.
+Madeleine Harvey That could be great if you could do that. They are my absolute favorite Band. The song i struggle the most is "Never go Back". This is a vocal chord suicide song ^^ If you could break it down and make it easier to sing in the right way I would be so gratefull :) This high notes are killing me^^ Keep up the work. Hugs back :D
Omg I've watched sooo many videos about belting and never got it. But after patiently going along with this video, I finally felt that 'pushed forward' full sound for a couple of beats. Now I know what it feels like, I can work on replicating it better. Yay!!! Thanks so much!!!
+Deena Malloy I'm so glad this helped you find those new sensations! Now that you know what that feels like, you can explore a whole new world of sounds and projection that you can make!
Hi Madeleine, I just found your channel *subscribed*. I'm a classical singer trying some jazzy pop stuff lately, but I find it hard to activate my head voice without all the, you know, "classical" sound to it. My head voice is pretty strong, so there is no problem there, just that I want it to sound more "sassy" and not so classical. Your crazy baby helped a lot. But I'd be glad if you could go into that matter a bit more! Thanks a lot for your videos!
+frederike zwischengeflecht I'm going to be working on a video centered around the idea of creating a more contemporary sound. But just to help you out until that video is launched....The classical mindset of developing a strong head voice, and then bringing it down is wonderful! The biggest thing that will give you a different tone character, is to spread your vowels through a smile. (Instead of the classical LONG vowel MAH think Fran from the Nanny - MAH.) I know it looks the same..here's a video to demonstrate...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A9Q29j2gll4.html This targets your pharyngeal resonance. Don't be afraid to experiment...especially if the sound isn't "pretty" it's all about access. And sometimes we need to play with crazy sounds to gets us into new acoustic spaces. Hope this helps!
alright lemme just say ure so sweet bless!!! been watchin and doing ur exercises ...for the last hour...im actually gonna be doing that once a day from now on
You are so funny and fun. You explain so well and make it so much easier. I am having some much trouble with head voice but your videos are helping me no end. You are amazing, thank you so much.
brilliant! thanks so much Madeleine. I love that you did Stone Cold as well. Its so worth doing these exercises to see how much better and easier things are when you just try and sing the song (or let the song sing you :-))...wondering if you had considered "Chandelier" as a good one for vocal gymnastics.
As if I couldn't think you were any more FABULOUS 😀😀...I'm currently learning that on piano. Thank you so much! I'll be in touch about lessons later this year. I need your kind of help
Thank you so much you helped me so much I auditioned with this song for my high school competition choir we got first place by using your videos for the belting notes as
I'm a baritone w a decent range..E1-C,D5- Bb5..when i had a vocal instructor..1 of 4 target songs was hearts..who will u run to..the other 3 i sing w ease but i'm still struggling w the heart song..would appreciate a lesson w that song & i'm sure your many other students would also..ty & ty for your generous excellent free content
How can one video help so much?? I’ve been trying to practice this song and I couldn’t figure out how to unstuck myself. I was going nowhere on the chorus. And in one video.. seriously, I can already feel and hear the improvement. My voice was probably stuck in my throat, and I didn’t understand that I could move my voice to a different place (crazy baby) while still being on key. I guess sometimes we really need to sound not right to get better. Thank you SO much for making this and sharing your talent and knowledge
wow!! you are amaizing... i wish i can teach my student as good as the way you do... and sure i'll suggest to all my student to watch your video so they can get extra information about vocal technique from you... thank you from malaysia😃😃😃
Okay. I must leave a comment on this one. I have learnt how to shift my resonance to sing low notes that i struggled for so long and the video just played 7mins only. Thank you so much. It is very useful. I just found that I can sing pretty low now. Why can't I find your channel earlier? +Sub ;) Now I would like to watch the rest of the video. Sorry that I'm not too fluent in English as it is not my native language.
Hello! I really like you... May I give a susuggestion? I would love to see a video of you teaching us "How To Get Rid Of Stage Fright When Singing" because I really have so much emotions when I sing and there is public... You would really but really help me. Thanks!
+Arta Arta Thanks for your feedback! Of course I can do a video about stage fright for you! In the meantime, check out this video... I hope this helps! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hwFISkK-Cug.html Looking forward to hearing you sing!
Hi madeleine✋️from Japan here, Youre really pretty and you make singing quite fun and sound achievable so thank you and we appreciate it so much when you breakdown songs so it really feels unimpossible to sing it ,especially songs we thought we should just give up.So thank you so so much💕 If it's not too much I wanted to ask if you could breakdown the song loving you by minnie riperton especially the part where she start hitting the impossible key sounding like a bird part.i would really appreciate if you could cause I feel that I'm really giving up on the song already 😖😔😫
Great video . You know , when you sing to tell , to tell , to tell (with crazy baby) it sounds like part from "My Favorite Things " ) That exercise is very relevant for developing mixed voice , thanks :)
Thanks for making this video. I watched it and your belting video again. My question is about the chorus and the crazy baby cry. When you make this sound, it's so strong it sounds like chest voice, but in your belting video you say that pulling up chest isn't the goal of belting. The forward resonance of the baby exercise does make it easier to sing those chorus notes in chest, but for me, that's not the most comfortable way to sing it because that's above my natural break. However, if I sing in a baby cry in head tone, it doesn't sound like your sound at all! This is such a confusing area for me, so if you can shed some light on what you're doing with your voice, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for your question! I'm really glad you're paying attention to those details and are experiencing those sensations. In the Adele video, the baby cry is not chest voice at all. It is a reinforced head voice. Most people think head voice is thin , spread, or breathy..but the baby cry is an example of how strong your head voice can truly be. When your practicing, it's important to think cry into what feels like head voice. But be silly, absurd, and a little crazy. This will keep your chords engaged as your resonance shifts. It's totally ok if your baby cry is not as loud as your chest voice for now. Keep crying, and feeling the diaphragm lift exactly as you would if you were literally sobbing. When you've gotten really comfortable up in baby voice, see if you can continue to cry and gradually bring it down into your split resonance. Good luck! If you have more questions, please feel free to comment. Thanks so much for watching!
+Madeleine Harvey I really appreciate your great response to my loooong question. It's amazing to me that you can get that strong sound from your head voice using resonance and support. I've been working strengthening my head voice, but it's not to that place yet. Thanks very much!
