@Speedy 19 Hey Speedy! I'm absolutely with you! I am, of course, familiar with Adam, and I will certainly work on putting together an Emotions cover one day for the purpose of showing that it can be done as long as you work hard and truly set your mind to it. I honestly haven't done any whistle tones for something like 2 years, and it will take some redevelopment. Note that my purpose for these videos was just to show that you don't have to be born a certain way to be able to sing the way you wish you could... As it stands, singing has taken a back seat while I've been developing other skills in pursuit of becoming a one man band, and with having a full time job (I didn't at the time of me making these videos), keeping up with it all is quite trialsome. On the other hand, I have some business ventures and collaborations nearing fruition that should allow me the time, energy, and money to create such content for you guys, as performing and sharing is what I want to "do" for the rest of my life. :) Tell you what, after I finish up working where I'm currently working (lol, QUIT), I'll spend one month focusing and practicing and recording whistle notes again, and I'll show clearly the before, during, and after of that month, ending with a cover of Emotions. I couldn't possibly whoop it out right now, and I never quite had it developed enough to cover Emotions, but I believe one month of hard work and I'd have it back, under control, and better than ever. Fair enough? 😜 I guess fairness doesn't matter, that's what I'm going to do, but I hope that'll satiate y'all. 🤣

This video makes me super self conscious, especially since some of the information is inaccurate. Rather than taking it down, I've updated the description and left it up since I know it still helps some people, and it allows others some form of entertainment. XD

I'm not Jonathan, nor an expert, but just drink a good amount of water, and rest and not do it too long. Also, proper warm up. There were Mariah interviews where she said there were days she couldn't do the whistle, and needed enough rest, etc.

Taylor Harris I apologize for the incredibly untimely response... I don't know how it is that I haven't seen this comment yet. Every time I scroll through my comment thread, I find some old question that I'd never seen. Whistle register is a very finicky register, and it takes a lot of careful practice to tame that beast. If you've had it already, I promise you you can get it back. The reason why it can be hard sometimes is because you have vocal habits that tend to hold you back from getting the right vocal cord positioning easily/naturally. It's not a bad thing, either, because it'd be rather annoying to have a high squeaky voice like that all the time! Overall, what I've found is that you have to defeat tension in your neck and inside your throat, then purposely practice jumping into that register rather than pushing up to it and trapping yourself. This is why I recommend my second whistle register video; in my first video, I don't actually access my whistle. I did something more like pulling falsetto, much like how people "pull chest" to belt. I too would recommend a vocal reset, so drink plenty of water and give your cords some rest for a few days. Then, experiment with trying to get that light and smooth and high squeak back. Experimentation and relaxation are key, in my opinion. As always, if it hurts your cords, stop. Hope this helps. :)

At the time of my original post I was struggling with it, because I realized that my lower registers weren't strong enough yet. So I took a break to work on my chest voice and lower register, which surprisingly helped my full voice. I now have no troubles hitting whistle and it is very effortless now. I am able to sustain, change key, and even sing lyrics in whistle. Thank you Jonathan and everyone here for your helpful advice.

Honestly warmups, hydration, and rest matter but your voice is different. Like the other day I was able to hit a C7 but the next day I could only go up to an A6. Also I heard on full moons it is very hard to get some whistle notes out.

I'm not comfortable with putting myself on the Internet lol but all I can say is the easiest way to have higher and healthier whistles is to just follow the basic fundamentals of singing, don't push, don't strain, and make sure you have proper reasonance. If you want to see a video of examples of good technique I would suggest going to the Chanel Mrskinnyjeanz3, this channel has excellent tips on basic proper singing and it brakes down how well current artists sing. Lol sorry I can't make a vid but I hope this helps:)

Super Silver 109 Whistle can't have proper resonance tho. It's disconnected register . But yeah whistles should be relaxed and effortless. Tip for me is to just hold your breath and let it it very little air and just use very little muscle work to produce a sound. You don't have to inhale first or anything .
