boredomes there are skaters that skate with one or no legs. It’s really inspiring that despite their disabilities, they refuse to give up on the things they love. Skate on and don’t get discouraged from things you love!
I just wanted to say that I started learning how to ride a skateboard less than a week ago. And sometimes I feel like I spent 2 hours, and didn’t learn anything. But it’s important to remember this. Sometimes it feels like you got even worse , when in reality, you just start spotting mistakes from yesterday. I’m 28, and I’m gonna keep pushing myself. Have fun 🤘
People need to hear this. I'm 27 and learning how to skate again. Haven't had a skateboard since I was 16. Sometimes I feel silly, especially when I fall. But I'm improving all the time, and it's fun, so I don't care what people think. Skateboarding is for everyone
i liked skating but it demands too much perfection in one's surroundings try BMXing/mountain biking you won't get dropped by a pebble smaller than your pinkie nail which means you can concentrate on progressing
Funny story the rodes were i live are like bad bad ,like pot hols left to right but anyways there to bad that everytime we see construction people driving up our rode we get overlay exited 😂. Its actually pretty sad if u ask me ,and 9 out the 10 times they just drive buy and that's all
I’m learning this now while still 16 so that when I go to college, I can travel via skateboard 🛹 Edit: I’m too dumb for college so my mom returned the skateboard. Edit edit: 5-14-20. I’m 17 now, and I might be smart enough for community college so I just might invest in buying a skate board again! My mom doesn’t believe in me tho haha (laughing thro the pain helps). Anyways thanks for the likes and words of motivation! Y’all are gonna hate me for making another edit buuuut.... I might not go to college after all. Ugh I really wanted to gooo. Why does it cost so much :\ I’m sorry for getting any hopes up :-/ Maybe I’ll make another edit if any thing changes. But for now, no college, no skateboarding. Stay safe during this covid-19!
Hi. I’m a 12-year-old girl who has vision loss. I first started skateboarding in Spring, 2019, after finally getting a skateboard for my 9th birthday. This video taught me how to skateboard, and I find it really funny that this channel is called BRAILLE Skateboarding! Braille is a way of reading and writing using dots popping out of a paper, for those who don’t know, and it’s used by blind/visually impaired people, and though I hate it, I use it too. So thank you for helping teach me how to skateboard!! :D Update in 2024: I no longer hate Braille. Credit for that to my awesome teachers :D
@@markpeels683I usually go in and out of it and don’t have the best board (don’t wanna get a new one til I’m fully into it again) so it’s kinda hard doing anything but cruise around, but I’m gonna start trying again :D
just think if you went and saw someone struggling a little bit, you wouldn’t really judge them, you would just realise that they are a beginner, nothing wrong with that
I want to but I need a board Update: I got a board! But boy does he make it look so easy.. Update 2: I finally got the hang of riding on the board! I don't do any tricks but I'm just happy to cruise!
I want to learn how to skate and as a girl, I’m quite nervous about being called a poser. I genuinely want to learn because I want a new hobby during quarantine :(
Thank you for this video as an old ex skater that started in the UK in 1977 aged 13 . My days of skateboarding are long over , but I do remember the early days with great memories . All the best , Mark .
day 1: pretty bad, im scared to move a lot because i dont wanna fall. i learned to push, but i cant move my foot sideways when im done pushing. i also found out i am a regular. skateboarding his fun, and i hope this will become a hobby, because i enjoy it a lot DAY 2: i got better at pushing and balancing and i fell a few times, but i didnt let that stop me from practicing. im not really that scared to fall anymore. when i was practicing i fell off my board and my skateboard hit my ankle. it hurt so bad that i had to stop practicing for the day. i can see im improvement. DAY 3: can definitely see improvevement. i went to the park with my siblings and skated and we played pokemon go . after working out i practiced ollies THREE WEEKS": its been a while lmao. ive learned to shuv it, cant do ollies but i feel very comfortable on my board, ive been riding it everyday since i first got it and i think i wont ever drop skating. falling is second nature to me lol its all i do, but thats apart of the learning experience. if you havent tried skating, then what are you doing?! try it out its amazing!
I'm 33 years old and I've just decided to take up skateboarding. At times I feel like an idiot for wanting to try something like this late in my life for injuries get harder to heal the older you get. But at the same time I don't want to go through life saying "Man I wish I could have done that"
Of course ur not an idiot! The only idiot people that exists are the ones who stop u from leaving new things. And hey! You still have a huge life in front of you! Hope you enjoy your skating more!
Disregard haters, acquire skate skills. Everyone starts somewhere and it's just a hobby. It's like saying you're too noob to shoot hoops at the local basketball court.
I’m 54 years old and have wanted to skateboard for 50 years. I got the board and all the safety gear and am learning to skateboard. Very helpful video, thank you. Starting on a drop down longboard and would eventually like to graduate to a more standard skateboard.
My first time stepping foot on a skateboard was yesterday, in a Five And Below. I slipped and fell back and hit my head on a shelf. I'm asking for a board for Christmas. :)
I have my skateboard for nearly 8 years now and a couple of days ago I decided to really learn how to ride a skateboard. This video really helped me out, thank you so much!!
@@kitwarrior4life124 this is kinda a weird question, but i have an 8 inch board and i wear size 6 shoes, do i need to have my heels off the side of the board when i ride?
It's really just practice. I kept my board in my living room for months before I even started actually trying to learn. I would just stand on it and hold on to the back of my couch. I'd just play around and eventually, I didn't have to hold onto the couch, then I was able to actually push a little bit and move a super short distance lol. I brought it outside the second the snow melted and I still suck, but I can actually push and ride a little bit. I just get scared of going fast though, so I bail lol.
I’m 58 used to ride on my blue Grentec Spoliler II in the 70’s back in the Philippines. Love that board it’s indestructible. While my friends are on their roller skates.
me : *watches a video on how to skateboard wanting to* also me : *doesnt have a skateboard* update : i have a skateboard now 😸😼 update2 : learning how to skateboard is NOT easy 😿😿 update3: i can ride around with ease now😼my next goal is learning the ollie 💅🏻✨ update4: I CAN OLLIE NOW AGASJSGSJ😻
I’m starting to learn to skateboard! I’ll update you on my progress Day 1: I practiced normal riding, can now ride sideways and make leaning turns going moderately fast. Downhill still scares me though Day 2: I learned a kick turn going at slow speeds Day 3: I’m starting to skate faster and went to a parking lot to practice skating better Day 4: got kick turns both ways Day 5: wanted to look cool while riding so I learned a running start and picking up the board cool Day 6: practicing riding around my neighborhood, really bad though Day 7: really really bad Month 1: Haven’t died yet Month 2: I’m still pretty bad, but can go down hills/tiny ramps and do a lot of things with kick turns. I learned the 180 both ways and can tic tack and walk the dog. I’m working on my manual and ollies currently Month 3: The weather is getting warmer so I’m hoping to skateboard more often. I went to a skatepark the other day and got cussed at by a little kid because I fell where they were skating 😂 1 year: This summer I learned to some easy tricks on ramps. I can go down some larger ramps now and I can also Ollie up a curb and I am working on kick flips!
@@klaedoe9042 you could pick it up faster than me, I don’t have much time to practice and I’m generally a bit scared to try new things so it takes me a while to work up the courage
Speeljongen Carti Bro ik was gwn letterlijk deze video aan het kijken gwn omdat ik net me skateboard heb en dan kom ik jouw gwn toevallig tegen hier haha
This was perfect for my 9yr old trying to learn Your calm And basic instructions are exactly what we need , nothing overwhelming Loud or overexcited it was perfect thank you so much looking for more of your videos on this
Man I'm a few years away from 40 and just now starting to learn! Never touched a board in my life, but actually building one out has taught me a ton about the anatomy, features, and functions of the board a pieces. Can't wait to flop around on it on my street and make a fool of myself! Nice, easy to follow video.
I'm 41. Broke my elbow while trying a skateboard in a sport store. My boyfriend doesn't want me to jump on a skateboard never again. I want to learn it. I ve always wanted to be able to ride to somewhere only with skateboard. 😊
i love braille skateboarding. They are the reason i started skateboarding. I just bought one and it is the best thing i have done. We love you braille skateboarding ❤
I did something worse I have adhd and I got a skateboard and was excited and without thinking hopped on it and went flying down a set of concrete stairs and broke my arm I was 10 when I did that but I didn’t care and still carried on once my arm was better 😭😂
LITERALLY ME TODAY AND BEES WERE CHASING ME AND MY BROTHER OUTSIDE AND I LEFT MY BOARD AND HELMET DOWN THE BLOCK. MY DAD HAD TO GO GET EVERYTHING FOR US WE WERE SO SCARED😭.
Just wanna say that when I was learning how to ride again as an adult 5 or 6 years ago this video was very helpful and I still hear some lines from this video in my head while I'm pushing around so thanks alot!
video: *skating on a clean parking space* me: *trying the same on an old cracked apart cement road* edit: looks like I‘m not the only one with a bumpy situation
I just got my first skateboard for my bday. Didn't use it for a month because I was also moving to a new country. So I had to disassemble my board to get it on the plane. Didnt pay too much attention to how it was set up. So once I settled to my new place first thing I assembled the board. But I'm such a newbie that I just tightened everything to the max. Went for my first ride and I COULD NOT TURN AT ALL! Very stiff. That lean turning was nearly impossible. So had to look up videos and thanks for explaining that the trucks have to be a little loose for lean turning. As simple as that sounds...it might help a lot of us. Gracias!!!
whenever i went to the skatepark i would be called a “poser” but i really only used to skateboard for getting around places. the people who called me a poser always had a ride everywhere, but i skated when i got groceries, went to school, and even when i go to practice
Same here bro I'm trying to learn how to skate cuz its 1.5 miles to my high school ,and it seems easyer to ride then to walk . But im reallllyyy deathly afraid of being called a poser or a noobie even tho I'm trying my best bruh.
hi, people might not see this but im going to document my skating update 1: i have a skateboard, learning how to get comfy with it, i knew how to skate before i owned one but its still a little hard update 2: im pretty comfy with my board, im starting to learn trickss (updated sept 5) update 3: i can ollie!!!! not very high, but i can successfully ollie on concrete (also, no i have not worn a helmet at all, just full send, practice, and you’ve got it) - updated oct 12 update 4: i havent been able to go out since the corona cases have been going up, please be patient as i will try to update when i can (updated nov 7 2020)
I remember this video I wacth it first time when I was a biginner like 10 years old now im 16 and when I look who learn me the basics I just cant belive that I did them you are my favorite skate board youtuber and continue do your stuff its very cool and I like it!
Him: teaches us the basics and how to *push and ride* it. Also him: doesn’t teach us how to stop. 😳 Guys, I’m aware that you jump off I literally skateboard myself for ages LMAO
Braille Team, You might wanna pin this one. Tips for people with no balance like me. For those looking to learn that have never stepped foot on a skateboard before, like myself a year ago, I have some things I did that helped me a ton even before getting the board really rolling. For me it was all about balance. Once I gained some balance it really became much easier. Any of these you can hold on to something to start with to assist you. 1). Simply step on and off the board, you can start on carpet if you're worried about the board slipping out from under you. Work on just getting on the board, and also getting in "riding" position like you just pushed. 2). Get in a small area like a 3 foot section in between a couch and a foot stool or your bed the wall and a pillow againat it or something and rock back in forth, weight on your toes, weight on your heels. Also shift your weight side to side. Again the idea is comfort if you're worried about slipping out. 3). in that small 3foot area, stand one footed and try to balance yourself. You don't have to be able to hold it long but it will help you with balance. A lot. The key here is to gain balance, and some early muscle memory. It doesn't take much time before you adjust to the feel of the board under you and then off you go with more confidence when you start pushing and riding! Lastly, a very personal opinion of mine. Learn switch up front. I truly believe doing this early will only benefit you later in your progression and add a lot more fun instead of suffering trying to learn it later in the game. I learnt to push ride and stop using both sides right out of the gate last fall and I'm at the point now that I don't care what side I ride on. (tricks are a different matter however. lol) Even if it's within the first month or 2 I would recommend going for it. Hope this helps the balanced challenged!
my older brother tried to teach me how to ride a skateboard for the first time he pushed me down a hill with an intersection at the bottom of the hill. I'm surprised I'm alive lol
my older brother took my skate board that i had just got for Christmas and took the wheels off of it. then threw the board away. this happend like 6 years ago and i haven't forgot.
Thank you soo much! I started skateboarding 2 weeks ago and wanted to learn on my own, but then I decided to watch a tutorial to make sure I was doing it right. I never realized you put your front foot facing forward when pushing, and my back foot would get sore after a few minutes of riding. Skateboarding has become a lot more fun and a little easier. Thank you!
I’m going to be 29 in few weeks, always wanted to learn a basic skating, just to roll around comfortably and do a small jump, since I was doing few other sports and art at the time I never fully had time to put myself towards it, now I have all the time in the world and im tempted to try
How many people are doing this in quarantine because you’ve always wanted to skateboard but you’re to nervous to do it around people (Lmao this is me but my mom won’t lemme buy one because she doesn’t want me to become a “angsty teen” 🤣)
bruh i can't wait for my very first skateboard to arrive in a week! Edit: it's here :) Edit 2: been skating consistently for over two years now! finally got front shuv down and now im tryna get fakie bigspin 💪💪
I’m now 22 and just now learning how to ride, got a board at the end of last season. Thank you Aaron for inspiring me to finally learn even as an adult. Never too late!
When I go to skateparks to practice and don't land a trick, I always hear other skaters talk about how bad I am and I fell so stupid because I try so hard but they say mean things about me😞😞😞.
Dont think thats true cause skaters have a family and rules one of them is to not make fun of beginners. So its either your lying or the people that are calling you names are not part of the family
Fuck em, they already know their shit so to make fun of someone whose just beginning or starting out means they only seen pro skaters on RU-vid and aren't confident in their own abilities or it could also just be part of the "Newbie Hazing Ritual" It happens regardless what you do or start to do. People talk shit because they know their shit, shut them out and show them what's it's about! Plus I believe the way you ride regardless what board it is, it's an extension of you, learn on your own time the most important part is feeling confident on your board and learning with it, you build a bond with something that is carrying an essence of you, a tool for a very personal and descriptive form of expression. Aggressive riders will be more extreme with their talk and how they ride Peaceful riders tend to go with the flow and is traditionally the more cali skater hippie style But there are subcultures with in the skater community and you will run into all of them eventually. Let the aggressive skaters continue to be them and just be you.
@@wockycat my parents have finally agreed to getting me a skateboard (before i was burrowing my neighbor’s, havent seen them in forever) so im getting one this week
bruh idk it only took a few weeks (2 or 3) with a lot of practice and confidence and I still wobble on it it takes a lot of concentration and messing up to get perfect :) did this answer your question or help?
