Another excellent video full of great ideas! For me the biggest challenges are non-24 sleep disorder (my body doesn't take day/night cues) and the fact that I have horrific allergies and the only thing that works with allergies is a medicine that has a stimulating effect (far exceeding that of caffeine). One thing that used to help me that I'd do is play an oldies radio station, the kind of stuff that was oldies when I was a teen (the music that was new at the time would be considered oldies now, funnily enough). I always enjoyed music from the crooner era and a local AM station would play the greats of long ago like Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Rosemary Clooney, Hugo Winterhalter, and stuff from the rock and roll era like doowop groups like the Platters and early soft rock like The Four Freshmen, The Four Aces, and The Four Preps (early soft rock was very similar to crooner style ballads). One of my favorite music collections was when my mom's friend found the old roller skate rink tapes when they roller skated as teens in the early 60s. Classical music and video game music also can work if it's the right kind. I like icy winter music for helping sleep as long as it's not overly Christmas sounding (too lively) or overly somber (can affect dreams negatively). On a random note, have you heard that in the US, there's talk of permanent Daylight Savings Time becoming law? This actually scares me, it was tried once in the 70s and had disastrous consequences (it'll still be night at 8 AM in December, January, and early February) and it cost the lives of kids due to exhausted motorists not seeing them walking to school. I'd prefer year round Standard Time (I wouldn't mind June getting fully dark at 9:30 PM instead of 10:30 PM, that's still very late).

A) Thank you (as always) for your comment. B) You've just named some incredible artists! Good taste. C) I love how you know what background music works best for you. When I was 17, I travelled to India as part of a charity project... I felt so home sick that I had to sleep with BBC News in the background just to feel less lonely. (Not the most positive thing to listen to but limited to only the news in English). D) Never knew that about the permanent daylight saving, so thank you for that (as you called it) random but useful note. E) Personally, I'd be so torn whether that would be a good thing about the permanent change in daylight saving however, I agree, I'd find it easier getting my son to sleep when it gets dark earlier, rather than at 10.30pm.

@@jomortonbrown It's so awesome to see another person younger than the original demographic for that music who enjoys it. I remember as a teen buying cassettes, CDs, and albums featuring those artists. It'd be fun someday to just for the authentic feel, listen on an old radio. Learning about antique radios also answered a question I used to wonder "why are there no single A batteries or B batteries?", I found out the old radios took A batteries, B batteries, and C batteries. There's even weird sizes like sub-C and F cell batteries, plus there's the number 6, which is as big as a paint can. If that worked for you, that's great. 😀 Sometimes we all need reminders of home when we're away. Did you ever have a phase where you were really interested in old Victrola records or even Edison phonograph wax cylinders? After discovering the earliest records, I took a huge interest in them and even heard some records of barbershop quartets from the actual era, groups like the American Quartet, the Peerless Quartet, and several others. You've undoubtedly seen 33s and 45s, maybe you've seen 78s, but these old wax cylinders ran at up to 160 rpm and were so fragile that 78s seemed unbreakable by comparison.
