Greetings from Florida! Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been making all of my family’s bread for over 50 years and finally have a use for the electric meat slicer I’ve had in high cabinet storage since becoming a vegan. I refrigerated yesterday’s bread overnight and tried the electric slicer the way you showed. It worked like an absolute charm! Effort and cleanup were even lessened compared with slicing by hand. And talk about even slices - they’re perfect! My husband and I are very pleased and we’ve already moved the appliance to a more accessible shelf so we can use it to slice every future loaf of bread (usually artisanal sourdough or whole grain & nut) bread we make. Our grown sons also make bread and I can hardly wait to tell them about our success. Thanks for saving me from buying one of those bamboo slicing contraptions I’ve been researching on Amazon. My electric slicer is all I need! 🥳
I love the bread slicer! I've been making bread for 20 years and I've never seen one of those machines. Yes, my kids ate a lot of uneven sandwiches. LOL! Great video.
Thanks for your kind comment, Hope. You've never seen a bread slicer? Wow! A friend of mine purchased one about 8 years ago and loved it, and another friend of mine had had hers for years and years and years (I always admired how perfect her slices were!) Once I stomached the cost, I never turned back. I've been making bread for about 14 years, and hate hate hate shop bread now; tastes like I'm eating tissues...nothing in it lol And don't you worry, I also made many an uneven sandwich back in my bread knife days :D
Hi, your my hero! I have a set of Cutco knives and one of them is the 10 1/2” bread knife. These knives are suppose to be some of the worlds best knives, but it wasn’t slicing my sourdough bread worth a darn! I use the cutting machine you showcased for meat and cheese but never considered it for bread until you recommended it! I took it out of it’s hiding place high in a garage cabinet and wallah, it sliced through the beautiful golden brown crust like a hot knife through butter (forgive the pun) and made PERFECT uniform slices! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your ideas with us! You just saved me from buying and trying another expensive bread knife or electric knife! Happy baking!
Pleased to be your hero, Bob. I know what you mean about bread knives. You win some, you lose some, but the electric slicer (even one pulled out and dusted off from the garage cabinet) is an every-time winner. I love the uniform slices too - just like shop bread! You're very welcome. It's my pleasure to share these ideas. So glad to have saved you time and money. Happy baking to you too!
this was so fun!! I was only fairly interested in learning about bread slicing and I'm sticking around for the whole video, as a new subscriber! vegans unite! haha. also as an american I am easily amazed by accents because we don't have very good ones here 😂
Glad you enjoyed it! Great to have you on board :) I forget sometimes that my American subscribers think I have an accent. Really though, it's you who has the accent haha
If you want to see more kitchen contraptions in action, check out my '7 Essential Kitchen Tools That Make Vegan Cooking Easy' episode. (I do the fun 'click and change things around' trick in that video too! 😂)
Wish i wouldve found this vid when i first started making bread. Took a whole month b4 i learned not to cut warm bread. Side note, those look like normal amercan slices of bread w that 1st contraption. The thicker cuts are used for "texas toast"
I'm looking for help cutting bread machine loaves with a hole in the bottom. My knife-sliced slices look beautiful until I get to the part of the loaf which is undermined by the hole. Any suggestions?
This electric slicer will work well. The slices with the hole will always look a little funny but the slices will be regular and of course homemade bread tastes divine. Thanks for the question :)
put the knife blades in the gutting guide from the top, it will be easier to get it is the same slot on both sides and the electric knife might actually fit in.
I bought one of those a year ago..trash, in the garbage it went, it’s plastic to some of the holes were fused together and the bread knife did not go through correctly.
One of the plastic slicers? Yeah, the one I unboxed was beyond useless. The electric slicer on the other hand has lasted for years and years. Thanks for your comment!
That would be the "heel" of the bread you are struggling with there! I have tried all of these methods except the slicer. It is very, very difficult to cut supermarket bread like slices manually. I'll go for a slicer next I think!
Good morning! Unfortunately I think this slicer may not be available any more, but a quick search on Google for "electric bread slicer" brings up heaps of other alternatives. Hope you find one you like!
Hi! Y really whant to buy the electric slicers then you use to cut the bread can y get the name of the compagny and the #of the model please thank you for your answers ❤❤❤
Sadly I don't think the model I have is available anymore, but a quick search in Google "electric bread slicer" or "electric meat slicer" brings up several options. Definitely read the reviews before purchasing though 😉
Absolutely. I had one guy comment about how he had a meat slicer stored in his garage which he pulled out and repurposed as a bread slicer after watching my video!
I personally think all those gadgets are a waste of mone. It took me a while but i got the hang of it. Get urself a bread knife, save ur money and practice.
I guess I take the "You do your best" road with organic vs non-organic. There may be some organic brands that aren't. Not sure. I have to say though, it's hard to beat $1.45 /kg for bulk bought Grewal stoneground wholewheat flour.
It's fairly simple, @Yashswini291, but as mentioned it takes time (depending on the method you choose). For the knife, you need to ensure you are slicing evenly from top to bottom. You can purchase a bread cutting spacer to take the guesswork out of it, but the one I unboxed is an example of one that doesn't work for everyday slices. The electric bread slicer is very easy to cut even slices. You set the thickness with the dial, and slice away. Hope that helps! Thanks for your comment.
