As someone with ong term Bell’s palsy, I can confirm a crooked asymmetrical smile is devastating!! I don’t mind getting older but I definitely hatè having an asymmetrical face and wish I could afford surgery.
I was a serious unsmiling child and my mother warned me that my face would get stuck like that. It is genetic, for me , I see family members over 50, with a similar down mouth. I began doing smiling facial exercises and self face massage 4 and 6 times a week, and I now see a major change in my face at rest. Major change. I am near 70, so doing face exercises was an easy thing to try and I even do them while driving. Even my double chin is gone.
I used fake smiling, EMS, plastic lip plumpers and facial exercises. These have made remarkable difference and the bonus is plump lips without fillers and feeling happy with fake smiles. The brain does not know the difference. Dental bite and missing teeth also make a difference but none of this is mentioned here. Try smiling when you have no reason to you'll be surprised what a difference it makes to your life because it is more than a frown turned inside out. Stay Happy ☺️☺️
I watched her video yesterday, and I was kind of big skeptical. Didn't know whether it would work.. So, have you noticed an improvement in your mouth corner? Are you still doing her exercises?
Thanks for this information Dr, I’m enjoying your videos very informative. For people like me that are in a hurry look at the info below Things that work 1) Weight loss 2) dermal fillers 3) RF micro needling 4) PDO threads 5) Fat dissolving injections Please watch the video still there’s still a lot of good detailed information!
I am 55 years old and have a great smile which I attribute to weight lifting. I do compound moves like pull-ups and squats which also use neck muscles. Doing a plank everyday and adding 5 seconds a week is another great exercise to build neck muscles!! I have 6.2 lbs of bone mass which is high for my age which I attribute to taking vitamins D K2.... Weight bearing exercises causes the bone to be increased in your body overall...
I never thought about it but yes, the downturn lines appeared after weight gain. Wow, I’ve never heard a single other doctor mention this. Thanks, Dr. Rani.
Mewing combined with face yoga and smiling while talking(always practice with a mirror). Also deep breathing/gentle facial shiatsu. I have chronic depression and it has lead me to have a mopey looking face. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL✨🌹
I'm almost age 50 and what has been helping me to reduce drooping mouth corners and marionette lines is a face yoga technique as demonstrated by Koko Hayashi. The technique is: do not allow your lower teeth to show while you are talking. She has a number of videos on this method. It's awkward but practicing in the mirror helps, and immediate improvement is visible. Literally, you just have to "hold your mouth a certain way"! It helps, try it.
This is absolutely true. With age, I found that my top teeth don’t show much while talking anymore, mostly the bottom ones. So I now starting speaking and just sitting with my mouth in a half-smile. In this position, the bottom teeth don’t show much.
@victorycall that is an amazing technique! I tried talking like that and it felt a little weird. Then I went and looked in the mirror, talked regular and then talked with not letting my bottom teeth show, and WOW what a difference! I think it will take some practice and getting used to, but I never imagined how much younger I could look by this one simple thing! Thanks 😊
Great video. Mine is genetic most of my family has down turned mouth generation after generation. We also have extremely thin lips. "Are you angry" gets draining when you hear it all the time. I love your style of videos. Professional advice and straight to the point. I love how you give multiple options if you can. People don't understand risk vs benefits. They assume its easy not understanding the nerves etc. I seen it in even in spine surgery thinking its a easy fix. Thank you for all your hard work.
@@rajanimdskincare Dr you didn’t talk about kybella to dissolve jowls? You mentioned kybella for jowls in a video a few years ago but not anymore why is that?
Dr Rajani you mention the location of the facial nerves and that’s something that I, and others appreciate about your videos- you’ve learned well about the human face (not only the aesthetic viewpoint, but the medical viewpoint as well) a lot of us appreciate your educational videos that inform us for our safety
A small amount of Juvederm at the corners of the mouth worked very well for me. But I also have another solution.... Remember those "banana hair clips" in the '80s? It's a long plastic hair clip with 2 sides and opposing teeth in the middle down the length. Hair is collected inside the clip. If you pull the clip tight, it lifts the entire face. I wouldn't wear one every day just because of pulling the hair, but it's a great option for a special occasion.
I wore banana clips all the time and high top ponytails.. I have crazy super big natural curly hair..(I was made fun of for my big hair all throughout my school years)…I’m afraid that hats, ponytails and straighteners actually caused some of the wrinkles on my forehead..My face skin was stretched from ponytails and scorched from hair straighteners.. Now at 42 years old.. I rarely wear ponytails and only straightene my hair once or twice a year..My hair is big again and this time I get constant compliments on it..my natural hair journey was agony on my self esteem but after 3 years, I can tell you it was worth it. I absolutely love my hair.. Now, for my skin journey… I’m hoping some natural techniques may help with my staircase forehead..I do chemical peels once a month and tretinoid 4-5 days a week… On a date night, I pull my hair back in a ponytail to tighten the forehead and lift the eyes..date night is rare👌 I’m also working on my thought process about ageing.. I have 3 beautiful daughters and I want them to know that ageing can be beautiful and done naturally beautifully…Just have to let the beauty of your heart shine on the outside ❤️keep smiling 🙂

My face has done this since a teen..ie a downturned mouth. People were always telling me SMILE. My upper face is unlined and great for 74 due to decades of Retin A. I have some sag now in the lower face..and Retin A only helps with fine lines...I use it on my neck so have few lines there. I did weigh 30 lbs more at one time, so sag is likely also from that. I am just going to live with all this.
I think weight loss along with the last three treatments I received from you are definitely keys to getting rid of the unwanted facial fat!!!! You know, I LOVE, LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU! Forever and a day! MM 🌵🔆
I'm getting a little jowly.. 😳, but decided to start giving the area some series manipulation (why not, figured it couldn't hurt at least) and it really is working.. I just take my palm and push pretty firmly in an upward direction, several times.. idk .. I can see a difference ☺️
You're so right about trying to lose weight first. I didn't have the problem until I gained an extra 20 lbs after my pregnancy. I'm trying to lose it now lol. Great tips!!; Also hoping to slim down the fat the grows in the nasolabial area.
thank you so much for this very good video. Some hours ago i saw a video from a plastic surgeon on youtube. He thinks, that all non invasive procedures do not work against sagging and the only solution would be a facelift...The before and after pictures are amazing, and the women look at least 15-20 years younger after a facelift. I prefer non invasive procedures like the ones you recomend, plus i dont want to look 20 years younger in the face, but my body, eyes and even the way i walk tell the true age. So look fres ,healthy and vibrant is the solution:)
If someone says only 1 thing works that should be your indicator. Keep in mind only 200,000 facelifts are done a year but 4 million botox injections. A surgeon would love to see 4 million surgeries a year ::)) I m not a huge botox fan but it gives you an indication. 4 million cannot be wrong and it grows every year. Did you call and ask how much that facelift is? 🙂🙂
@@rajanimdskincare hahaha, someone else did, $74,000! I think I'll pass and continue to enjoy the treatments you recommend, especially because I find them therapeutic (mentally)! Btw, I unsubscribed to his channel after that last video because it's become clear that surgery is the only thing that he believes works!
As an esthetician in a plastics office, I have seen lift with microcurrent sessions. They are minimal, but I have seen the difference. Other than that I stand behind the RF with microneedling; but in all honesty folks… save your money and get a deep plane lift.
Glad I came across this video bcz I’m tired of ppl telling me OH IT CANT BE THAT BAD I WILL SAY A PRAYER FOR U. They think I’m sad or mad n it pisses me off bcz my mouth makes me look this way.
I loved it. I think for some of us the eastern/oriental type of face massage, face gymnastics/yoga, Nuface and dermaroller help a lot. And taking some supplements. Of course, it will not help forever, but helps to "maintain" our face. Anyway, Dr. Rajani, I thank you very much that you suggested Vitamin K2. I found a supplement called Nattokinase in a drugstore (Eastern Europe. Girls, go to DM) and I remembered that you have mentioned that the Asians eat Natto, which is high of Vitamin K2. So I am enjoying my yummy vitamin 😁and I think I have noticed after 2 months that my skin looks somewhat different. I know it is not aimed to help "skin" directly, but the bone mass underneath. I will be 43 in 2 weeks, so I think it was just the right time to start it. And I probably start to "eat" marine collagen as well. Thank you very much, Dr. Rajani, that you help us to understand things and showing us some useful non-invasive methods of achieving "good looks". 🙏
Dr R🧡 I hear this as well. The funny thing is that most of them had a filler and it made it worse. Thank you! For saying lasers, peels won’t work. Please remind people to NOT do at home micro needling we are seeing terrible things with this. I do use professional micro current and have for about 3 decades and it does work. I also suggest maintaining the result at home with a Nuface for example. I also teach my clients how to do a couple different massages and facial yoga for this area and you would be surprised at the results we get. I just showed a Before&After of two women that both had this as one of the issues they wanted to fix. It’s impressive at what we accomplished in one month! Thank you for always allowing me to share my holistic beliefs here. You are a lovely person. Have a blessed and beautiful day and to anyone feeling they can’t create change in their face naturally, you can. 🍑🙌🏻🧡Lisa
I do at home cosmetic MN and have no complaints or issues- if you do a shallow depth and follow correct protocol, it’s a great anti-aging tool in an arsenal.
@@Loralarify I am so happy you are having a good experience. In my practice ( I have three holistic skin care salons) I have only seen negative and adverse reactions. Thank you for sharing with me. Have a blessed day Laura 🙌🏻🍑🧡Lisa
Face yoga really helps, I can notice a huge difference if I do it regularly. Guasha is also nice, I try to use it daily. I also noticed the right position of the tongue is very important for the activation of face muscles.
I can confirm this. I got rid of a little double chin, got a sharper and more defined jawline and a slimmer face through Face Yoga exercises combined with GuaSha Massages or other facial massages on a daily basis. Love it!
Had orthographic surgery years ago and the right side of my face has sag. Even the nasal labial fold on right side is lower. Add the permanent flattened eyebrow from botched Botox of left side and I'ma real hottie🙄 There's more AND IT'S TRUE that invasive procedures, elective and/or otherwise, can have undesireable outcomes
Excellent information! Never known someone who has shared such detailed and professional knowledge of treating this special problem which is indeed very complex! I have tried almost everything during the last years and found it as ineffective as you mentioned! After my experience I began to understand what it would need to treat this special area in my face. About 3 months ago I began with a combination of dermastamping (2.5) with liposolving ampules, daily microcurrent and EMS. As well as Tripollar Pose (recommended for body fat only!) in that area...and I am beginning to see results, now! Makes me look younger and much healthier. Thank you for your video and sharing....(Pardon my incorrect English, I am not a native speaker, because I am German.) Btw, I am 57!
Someone said it! I'm always admiring your shirts. The colors, sheen, and drape are so flattering. I wish more gentlemen would find their colors, and take some chances with softer more sensual clothing.
Thank you so much for all your info! You give very complete information but you never waste the viewers time! You are always efficient and to the point!❤
I noticed as a teenager that I had what is now called " resting b***h face". I trained myself to not allow myself to make that face. I consciously turned up the corners of my mouth when I was not speaking. I started this at 16. I also had threads, the permanent ones in my thirties. Many people turn down their mouths when unhappy or angry. It's just akin to frowning starting at the forehead. This can be corrected by realizing that you're making "that face". Funny I find that babies, small children and dogs usually respond positively to me because my face is friendly and non threatening. I know it's too late for some people but it still can help to remember to smile, it's a very attractive at any age.
@@maryamruunmaxamud4514 You can't get them in the US anymore. I got them when they first were being used but some people didn't have good results so they where withdrawn from use. Mine worked out fine and I never regretted it. I'm sure they are still used some where but I couldn't tell you where.
if you do intermittent fasting and high intensity interval training, it really lifts all the muscles in your body, including in the face. and you take care of the stomach meridician in acupuncture, which has points all over the face, it tends to lift the face.
Intermittent fasting and Hiit..wrong . 1st Diet. Rf vacum microneedling , cheek implants Surgery according to age... young people need nutrition. Bone muscle and collagen builders.. less sugar
I've started doing a lot of facial and jaw exercises to tone the muscles underneath. Also rebounding gentle and tightening the cheeks and mouth looking up and putting g-force on cells is also what ive started. I lost weight fast so this also can cause sag and big cheeks anyway so rebounding can help with skin tightening overall. My face muscles burn a bit and seeing some small changes just being patient. Also stopped eating sugar completely.

A good firming cream. I use L'Oreal products. Takes a month or 6 weeks to build up, then maintain it, and it works. I liked their dbl lifting regenerist, but they discontinued that in order to promote their triple lift regenerist product -- which is more expensive & altogerher different in texture, just adds a toner, & I personally don't like it at all. I switched then to their age perfect night moisturizer, which firms, seems to correct tone & age spots, & which texture I like, & again got the lift results I wanted. It's not 100%, but for me it's 70%-75% -- not bad. Then I use facelift tape for the rest, if I want to bother, if I'm going out somewhere special (which tape I make myself, out of different size & length strips of matte finish bandage tape -- the 3M is best, as long as it's matte finish. It disappears on the skin & I find you can also put all make-up items over it as well). Then Garnier has this little green roll-on tool, with some liquid product inside, used to reduce puffiness under the eyes -- and it works!! In fact, I use it all over my face where I need tightening!! It will tighten up all facial areas, as well as the upper eyelids!! I have also used tiny strips of the medical bandage tape (you can tear it with your fingertips, no scissors needed), maybe an inch long or less & about 1/8" wide, more or less diagonally placed on upper eyelids. Placement of all tape strips is critical -- it has to be in the right place to see a super inprovement -- so just practice!! Doesn't take long to figure it out. You hv to decide which direction to put one end on, & then press it down really well, then see how much to pull to remove the sag, then press down the other end of the tape really well, then press down all through the middle part of the tape, again very well. (I don't use the tape every day in case it stretches my skin too much, or may permanently do so, which would give me an even bigger problem!!). I use one piece about 2" long, & 1/2 of the tape width wide, about 1/2", diagonally on my cheek & pulling up to above my jaw joint, with the end in front of almost the top of my ear, hidden in my hair basically. The other I put sideways below my ear, about 2" to 2.5" long, & pull it back up & behind my ear, & judging how much pull I need before pressing down the other end. (All the tape business takes me 10 mins., if that.) I have pulled my hair back & up in a ponytail & still no one has noticed this tape -- and I have then told them it was there & they agreed they couldn't see it. You can feel it with your fingertips tho, feels a bit rough, as the tape has tiny indentations in it. (It stays on thru thick & thin too, I might add -- don't worry!!) I also colour my grey/white hair, as it is too much a sign of & reminder of age, & it doesn't really fit my face as is -- yet. I find the finishing touch is to remind myself whenever I can to wear a slight "Mona Lisa" smile -- that only shows as more lift around the mouth!! And makes you look a lot more pleasant!! But I hv to consciously remember to do it.
It's comforting to know weight loss will help! I've dealt with these lines since I've been fat, and am in my 150lb weight loss journey, so I'm hoping at the end I won't look so saggy! I do have a dark vein on either side of my mouth that follows the creases though, no idea what to do about that
I have overactive DAO muscles, which everyone on my mum’s side seems to have, so I started getting them Botox and it absolutely does turn that frown upside down.
This is an eye opener, and just in time to help with solutions I suddenly need! It's unbelievable how quickly central heating can deteriorate the skin. I never turn it on, but had it on for 1 month because of subzero temperatures. In just as little as a month, my chin and jawline sagged very noticeably and my skin became leathery. I turned off the heat and got to work on getting the dead skin off and gently targeted the jawline with my PMD, which could be considered similar to microneedling. I hope. It is slowly 🐌 improving. 🥴 And yes, I need to target some excess weight from my face!
Hi Daphne, I noticed the same a few years ago..As a result, I always use a humidifier in the winter months to counteract all that dry air. It really helps, if you're consistent with it! 😊
it’s the dehydration that makes your skin worse, not the heating system. People drink less water in cold weather. Drink a lot of water everyday and you’ll see your skin glow up.
My NuFace Trinity device helps my mouth corner marionette droops, I really see the difference in the lower face for me. It’s temporary, sure, but using it a couple of times a day and especially as part of my ‘getting ready to go out’ routine, it works ok. I splash my face with ice water after, and use a skin firming cellulite lotion on my face for a extra little temp lift! If they temp firm the butt dimples, then I thought ‘let’s try this on my face’ and yes, I do feel a slight tightening firming effect 😊
Hi. Thanks for sharing your tips... I have a question. You say that you use a skin-firming cellulite lotion on your face? Could you please tell me the name of the product? and how long have you been using it? Many thanks in advance.
Yes! NuFace really does work! I compared a recent picture with one from last year and was shocked at how much more lifted my cheeks looked! I am only 23 but got the NuFace mini because I felt it would be good as a preventive tool and for maintenance.
I want to thank Dr. Rajani for recommending vitamin K2 to help prevent bone loss in the face. I have been doing facial exercises for over 20 years. I started in my fourties. As a medical aesthetician I appreciate how when you were talking about things that will not work, you did not come off to me to be speaking In absolutes. I do have cases of patients that respond to co2 such as Smartskin and and at home treatment improvements, but they are the exception not the rule. There’s too many factors with a humans face structure and skin to ever speak in absolutes. Bone structure, fat content and skin thickness, muscle density, lifestyle and diet, just to name a few variables lol so if you take even just those and make various combinations of characteristics that make up a human, there’s so many possibilities of what to expect as far as outcomes. ON TOP of the technologies with clinical evidence and science based technology as to what to expect from each machine or procedure. This is also why most pros in the industry don’t go by absolutes with age, it’s a general idea of when you can expect A, B And C to happen, but again so many possibilities that it becomes comparing apples to apples. Ok 🫡done with nerd ranting lol I really admire your teaching method Doc, you are one of my favorites! 🤗

But this is wat i found work so well. It all started as a joke. Bcoz i WASN'T LOOKING bad at all. I actually always look younger than my years it WASN'T for THAT but the patches. LITTLE knowing it WORKED overall. But i never went back. The patches never ever returned even i dont wear sunscreen. Never been something on my list back those years i loved the sun. The sun never did any damaged to my overall body. Genetic i guess. PEOPLE still think i have legs of a young girl i am 54
Micro needling permanently scarred my face. I have acne scars and my dermatologist recommended micro needling and after the procedure all those little holes in my face didn’t heal. Over time the cluster of holes turned into fine lines aging my chin and cheeks. It’s been 5 years and every year it gets worse… I’m utterly devastated.
Me too. I purchased it off a reputable distributor too. My skin looked so bad after using this and was told that it was part of the therapy but yet the damage never went away. I have bumps on my face, neck like my pores inflammed. Stay away from micro needling unless a professional is doing this.
So sorry to hear of adverse effect. My dermatologist spot tested a patch on my belly and I had the same result as you. I knew I scarred easily and mentioned it to my dermatologist so she did a test patch. I’m so glad. Have you asked your dermatologist about BBL treatment for the scarring?

I must say, chewing on Chisell gums did wonders for me. It is facial fitness. You have to be consistent in it tho, as with any other fitness exercises. The masseater is targeted with it. But because of hypertrophy that muscle in the jaw becomes somewhat bigger. Tightening the jawline toning it. Removing the jowls. Ok you have a more square and toned jaw, but the advantage of this fitness simply removed the sag with me at 43 years of age. It is true, We eat too many softs foods. I recommend chisell as an asset in your arsenal to delay visible agingprocess as we also lose bonemass in the face over time. The hypertrophy compensates it in a fair amount. It also slims the face because you chew frequently. I build it up from the beginning by 5 minutes a day using light bite. Then moved on after 2 months to regular and thrn gradually to the tough bite. Now I do it 2- 3 a week 5-7 minutes per session as maintenance works for me. But like said. Consistency and proper building up starting with the light one. After a month I already had results. It surely helps a lot!!! But be persistent and patient and go by the schedule Chisell gives you with the purchase. Don't overdo it, surely not in the beginning.
doesn't hypertrophy like from bruxism to TMJ/TMD cause the exact opposite effect? Maybe all in moderation is good. I got bad bruxism. Led to facial nerve pain and visible downturned mouth corners.
I was the smoking cold well into my adulthood but now I have these downward lines around my mouth so I don't think it's being a frowner that causes this issue. Gravity is the culprit whether you smile a lot or frown a lot. I've never been heavy or gained a lot of weight so that's not it in my case. RF or micro current hasn't helped either. I think the micro needling has helped but I've only done it at home. Can't do the threads because it looks too scary.
Omg thank you so much, you really saved me for the wrong treatments and waisting my money. Thank you thank you thank you very much. You give so much love your videos as always
