Another thing that totally slowed down my perception of time over the last one year is journaling. This habit makes every day feel like more significant, and thus make the weeks and months feel longer. It's been a life changer.
I think I’ve cracked the code on why I love reading so much. I’m not a very adventurous person, so experiencing new worlds in my head through words on a page, I feel like life is expanded a bit.
Same here! Glad to know that there are someone else in the other side of earth shares the same view on reading. I love thinking and exploring with books, which feels as if through someone's eyes to see the world. That's a wide perspective and that added some colours to my own life.
1. Incorporate novelty into your life (hará q se hagan menos rápidos los días) (3:28) 2. Search inspiring experiences (they’re common, you only have to notice them) (5:18) 3. Make progress towards your goals (hacer un seguimiento de las acciones hacen q nos parezca q haya pasado más tiempo)(7:13)

@@wick5107 As a student,it wasn't really an easy start . I still lack the knowledge but invest in crypto-currencies and stocks through the guidance of an investment professional who personally handles my portfolio.

To my millennials in your late 20s to late 30s know that you are still HELLA YOUNG! Live your life as such and stop saying things like “I’m such a grandma” (because you will start believing it sooner or later). ✨
People who say that they are “such a grandma” are dumpy and boring. They’ve been a “grandma” since they were teenagers-they just didn’t have the self-awareness to realize it back them. Don’t be like those people.
Uh, this makes no sense. I say I’m a grandma a lot now (I’m 28), and the reason is BECAUSE I was such a crazy partier in my late teens-early 20s. I’m a far cry from the 3-4 nights a week partier I used to be lol
This couldn't be more true. As of late, time feels like its flying by. I feel like it's the constant distractions, especially with such easy internet access, that we never feel "bored" thus, all the time in the day is used for something. That way we fall into the same routines that leave us wondering where all the time went!
I deeply appreciate Matt’s content and his storytelling style which I think he maybe changed a little bit recently along his choice of attire? I don’t know anything about videography or film making, but Matt’s recent videos have more cinematic feel to it rather than catchy youtube video vibe and I absolutely love them!
I needed this. Fell into escapism since the pandemic, and working from home only added to routine and lack of novelty. Thanks for these tips and for making this video. Much appreciated. I'm pulling myself out bit by bit :)
Matt's video got it everything... it has a spark. It has entertainment. It has a story. It has wisdom. It has stunning videography. And most importantly it has biceps!
You'll watch an entire Netflix show even when the first episodes are slow and boring just because someone told you "it gets better." *But what if you looked at your goals like that and watched your life get better instead???*
2 seconds ago, being a YT watcher is a full time job, and I definitely needed this cause I just remember moving in to college and now I’m getting closer to taking my first set of finals
Here are my 10 extra tips to INCREASE your daily manifestations that I’ve learned over the years..👇🏾 1. Practice gratitude every morning. When you wake up, list everything that you are grateful for and feel that gratitude in your core. Feel free to write things down in a journal so it is easy for you to remember. 2. Replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. Every time you feel a negative thought coming on, make a positive spin on it right away. 3. Take ownership for things that happen in your life. It's easy to blame others however you will feel much better when you realize that most issues stem from us. 4. ALWAYS believe that good things are about to happen. By being open to new possibilities you are inviting abundance into your life. 5. Remember that like attracts like so you get back whatever you put out, whether it is good or bad. So do good AND received good. 6. Meditate for five minutes a day. During this time focus on how you want your life to be; but place your focus on how you feel AND feel that feeling as if you have already accomplished those goals. 7. Step outside of your comfort zone. Stop playing it safe and make that decision to finally go for your dreams. 8. Focus on activities that make you feel truly happy. When you are truly happy you have the best vibrational frequency to manifest your desires. 9. Avoid the naysayers and surround yourself with people who only lift you higher. Downers will be downers, don't let them drag you into their misery. 10. Don't be afraid to dream and know that you are always supported by the universe. Hope this helps! - Your Friendly Neighborhood Coach ❤
Most of this is literally in the Bible. No secrets except the secret sauce to do these is Jesus Christ. That’s why the book the secret was never a secret. If someone opened the Bible, the answers are all there. God bless!!
That's true. Since the pandemic started I stayed home 90% of the time and only spend time with my partner. Occasionally we see his family. I work remotely. It often feels like every day is the same. I was starting to feel really isolated and sad. I adopted a bonded pair of rabbits from a shelter 3 months ago. Seeing them grow and interact with them every day helps keep me living in the present. I can tell they are happy and I am too. I look forward to seeing their little faces every morning and night. Recently my partner and I went to a new restaurant and that felt like an adventure in itself. So I think what Matt is saying is true. I unfortunately don't have the funds to go on vacation but I like to think about what I would do when I get a chance to. I would love to go on a trip and visit France. I haven't been back since I moved to the states 6 and half years ago. I miss it sometimes.
I disagree strongly with the premise that people can't buy time. That's exactly what's most upsetting about extreme wealth inequality. A working person with kids gets maybe an hour a day to pursue something that isn't work or childcare or chores; a person unencumbered by a 40+ hour a week job has essentially purchased constant freedom to do whatever they like.
Technically they're buying help not time. They're buying more ways to spend their time not the time itself. You too can make the same decisions just it would morally make you seem lazy, selfish or crazy but it's all still choice and luck.
@@dinaisis2991 There is no choice in the matter; the decision is starvation and destitution or giving away nine hours of every day. We do not all have the same number of hours in a week. The attempt to convert the question into literally extending life is a distraction from larger societal issues, and childish.
his weekly newsletter talks about how doing the same things everday makes it seem like time is flying by so quick, and that is why 2020 felt like it lasted for a minute. would recommed reading his newsletters, very insightful and they dont take up much time either
I remember learning this concept in high school, I think it was my 9th grade History teacher who told us about it. Since that day I’ve been noticing time moving a lot faster & I understand why. I think cutting down social media is a great way to make time feel longer, it’s so easy to spend hours on social media and forgetting everything that just happened. The novelty idea is great too, and it’s simple which helps. Dope video
Love this, and have been needing this lately! Feels like time moves SO fast lately. Another two things that have helped me a lot are waking up before the sunrise 🌅 , and meditating for at least 10 minutes each morning! 🧘🏽♂️ I don’t do both every morning, but when I do I feel like the day lasts SIGNIFICANTLY longer! 😌🤙🏽
This is one of the reasons why traveling or living abroad can help you slow down time. Plenty of new information and pattern interrupts! Not so much 9-5 grind.
*I know you are tired.* *But so they are.* *One more step.* *You didn't come this far to only come this far.* *The dream is still there.* *One more step.* I believe in you, keep going. 🖤
Just like we fill our house with stuff, we fill our times with things that doesn't matter in the end. Buy what will last and make time for things that you'll look back fondly on.
I feel like I wake up, go to the bathroom and when I come out it’s 3pm. And when I go downstairs it’s 7pm. And after dinner Im rushing because I have to go to sleep. Thank you Matt, I really need to start changing my routine and making every second count
Bullet journaling helped me so much with this. I note down anything memorable from my day each night. It gets me to reflect on the good/bad things and remember better - and therefore feel like the day was longer and more productive! It especially helped me during lockdowns when time felt so abstract
Taking steps outside of my comfort zone is a big challenge of mine, but one I’m working on nonetheless. Even in my content, I’m starting to switch up how I write, film, and edit my videos and I’m having more fun with the process as a whole
All these comments about self improvement and this and that, are too overcomplicating. It used to make me disappointed for not sticking to the routine of the gurus. Because right now where I just do what I enjoy, do what I need to do and not force myself to read something or meditate, is way better.
Amazing video, yesterday was my birthday and because of the pandemic and other reasons, i was not able to work on my goals or to travel. So my friend asked me what is the most important and happiest moment for you this year ? I was not able to give her an anwser, i was wondering what is the most important thing i did this year which has an impact on the next years
Yea but we need the good and the bad both, not just the sunshine in life but i get your point. Just dont forget that in order to have positive experiences u need to face fears along the way first ^
I'm really addicted in watching your videos and have changed my way of living because of your videos. More power to you, Matt! Love from the Philippines. 🇵🇭
*If you want to slow down your life you have got to incorporate more novel experiences in your life* Will have and will it not be so much busy for me? *Meet new people* *Have a inspiring experiences* * 7:13 Make progress towards your goals*
I actually feel the opposite, because I do so much and many new things all the time constantly pushing myself out of comfort zone. I came back from a camping festival thing 2.5 weeks ago, I actually thought it was 3 months ago. I don't want to ever regret a moment of life. It took me too long to get a good place and I'm making every moment last
Cara agar waktu kita tidak cuma passing by: 1. Cari kebaruan/novelty. 2. Cari pengalaman baru yang menginspirasi. 3. Ekspansi lingkungan sosial kita. 4. Buatlah progres.
Living as a RU-vidr, where my job is to do so many new things and film them. I think:"Wow this month passed by real quick!" But when I look back I realise than so many things happened. So i bounce back between those feelings, time going fast but so many experiences lived.
I am a student and I completely agree, I get this same feeling. I feel like the year went by so fast and then I remember all the people I've met and all the new things Ive done and learned. I bounce between these often too.
I like this. I've been thinking about Plato's obsession with madness quite a bit. Well, for years now. We need that wildness, novelty, inspiration. That it also elongates our perception of time is a bonus.
This is why IT by Stephen King feels slow and drawn out. The characters are a bunch of kids and time flies at a lower pace for them. King writes from the perspective of those characters making the pacing slow. King wants the reader to feel this slow pace.
Amazed .. have always felt time running so fast but never knew what i can do about it.. this makes so much sense.. 'new experiences' in my routine is what i have been missing all this time with my fixed routine.. thanks 😊
Great video. Reminds me of a favorite quote. “Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes.” Live every moment!!!!
This is what I think as an 18 year old. As I'm approaching age 19 on November I feel like I can do so much but I have only little time. It's rare for me to go have fun with friends because I want to hold on to the money and invest in something I know will help me for a better future. Since I'm not going to school it has become even harder for me to find my goals since I want to have fun in things I'm doing and I don't find fun in school since I recently graduated high school. My main goal is to do something fun for the rest of my life. All I do is get home from work, watch youtube, and play Dragon Ball Legends. Then things hit me all of sudden that I have to do something productive but I just don't know. All I can say is that I must continue and look for something good for me and help my family as much as I can. Time is going fast yet slow at the same time. You know wat I'm saying??
Another tip I've found to really help slow-down time is: Try not sleeping. Pull all-nighters, and then try to function properly the next day. You'll feel everything is a bit sluggish and slower. Works like a charm.
What helps me with that problem is writing diary. Every day. So when a month passed I look into my diary and feel like: Woah that was a cool month! Thank you for your videos and greetings from Germany 😊
The pandemic only made this worse. Every day feels the same like a big blur. I probably never would’ve thought novelty, but as soon as you said the word, it was so obvious. I barely have any memories of waking up every day and working in bed during the pandemic like when we had those milestones and novel experiences growing up. Time really started to fly once college was over for me, and turning 30 during the pandemic just made it even tougher. I finally did make the move to go back to grad school this year and start a different career though, and with face to face class and moving to a large city in the next few weeks looming, I’m really hoping that helps me get out of the pandemic rut of never leaving the house whether it be for work or zoom class. I’ve always said you can’t live to work but you can’t just live to be totally monotonous either. Hopefully a lot of people heed this advice
