Thanks for watching my video! Please help me grow my channel by liking and subscribing!Smoking chicken on your big green egg is an easy and cheap dinner choice. Whole chickens at the grocery store are only around $7-10/🐔 which is why I always make 2. Although I laid these horizontally due to space, I usually use beercan chicken racks and cook them vertically in my Weber Genesis or Green Mountain Grill pellet smoker. This recipe produces a mid to upper level of smokey meat based on how long it sits at a lower temperature. An XL egg is also capable of standing chickens vertically in beer can chicken racks and also great for two spatchcock chickens. Both of these methods produce a lighter smokiness that many people prefer for chicken (including myself!). I have videos on both of rhose methods on my xhannel too! Try going 325 for entire cook. Add more wood chunks, if you want more smoke. Your birds will be done sooner, and your skin will be perfect. Chicken does not benefit from low and slow. Good video BTW

Yea, after this cook, I completely agree, just being on the egg for an hour at 350-400 imparts plenty of smoke flavor!

go 250 to 260 for an hr then 300 for an hr then 335 till you just hit 175f/180f for all the skin done.

I actually just did another whole chicken cook yesterday, basically an hour and a half at 375-400 until IT of 165*, turned out delicious and skin was nice and crisp!
