Thanks for this video! I actually watched this one first a couple days ago and I recalled you showing all this so I ended up watching the other video several times over bc I thought I was somehow missing it lol really appreciate all the info you're putting out here!

Thank you I appreciate it. Yeah it's Been a bit but I had a question on one or the other and did the second one as kind of a more in depth explanation to help out another fellow rider. I need to get more into doing more of these videos this summer they can be very beneficial when just starting out and that's my goal of the channel is to help others.

Cool video maybe one day you can show on a parking lot how to make a uturn, most riders avoid that because you have to ride slowly and there is a big chance you gonna drop the bike when you learning.

I try to avoid it myself but I also practice when the opportunity arises. I actually just got a 360 cam in today so once I get everything setup hopefully I'll be able to put out better content and you guys be able to see a better view than just the helmet cam. I'm just hoping I don't need a computer in order to make the edits for 360.

Hahaha I would say I'm comfortable with it but it sketches me out still like I'm bad about trying to put my foot down if I do it too slow and I have to remind myself to look where I want to go.

So when you blip the throttle do you let off the throttle completely or keep it slightly open then blip?

I usually keep it slightly open. Just enough that the engine isn't braking. It doesn't really matter I don't think but I find it to be much more smooth that way then of course you can close the throttle or let off completely and that will help slow the bike.

@stevenbumbalough8117 oh trust me I know and it helps having someone slow it down and not assume you already know and just showing the motions. I try to show it in a perspective for someone learning some of the videos I've found when I was trying to learn was not very helpful because I literally knew nothing lol

When you say "dump the clutch", do you just let go of the clutch after blipping and downshifting the lever? Is there no need to ease out the clutch and find the friction zone? Sorry, I am new to riding a motorcycle.

Yes when I say dump the clutch I'm referring to just letting it out quickly. the friction zone and easing off you're referring to would pertain more to first taking off. If you dump the clutch taking off you're going to stall or do a wheelie. You can ease out shifting up but it's a much more fluent motion. If you try and ease out shifting down then you will most likely not hold rpms long enough therefor when you shift down at a lower rpm you're rear tire will try to lock up or the engine and transmission will hammer against each other and it's an abrupt feeling on a bike as opposed to a car. The main thing to remember when shifting gears is you want the engine and transmission to be in sync. So if you're going down a gear bring the engine speed up and vice versa. Engine and Trans should match. And it just really takes practice to get used to. Just get out there and try it out and keep riding keep practicing. I may make a pt 2 for you in the near future so that it's easier to explain lol

When you are "blipping" does that refer to a quick twist back on the throttle (as if giving gas)? You let off of the throttle all the way when you pull the clutch in right?

Yes just bump the throttle to raise your rpm for lower gear. Just bump it cause if you red line then dump the clutch your front wheel might come up and it's sketchy when unexpected lol

And as far as letting out I slightly let it out in low speed maneuvering. I'll let it out enough to hold the throttle plates open(eliminate engine braking) on the other hand you can use the engine braking to slow down more rapidly in which you would let completely out of the throttle and the clutch and the bike will naturally slow down. I would recommend going to a parking lot or somewhere woth no traffic and just practice the rhythm until you get it down cause it's awkward when you mess it up and stall it lol

You should never "dump" the clutch like this. He is getting away with it, but its putting unnecessary wear on his cltuch by doing so and is a overall bad habbit. You don't need to dump it to catch the rpms on a downshift like this. Just release smoothly as you always do, its all about timing really, no need to "dump", in fact DON'T dump. Blip and smooth out.

Typically the same concept if coming to a stop I'll generally wait till I'm about stopped. If I'm accelerating I will down shift slightly sooner to keep the rpm slightly higher.

@SasukeUchiha-nk6pq you shouldn't but the idea is to rev match. In other words you want to rev the engine up and then let the clutch out. Not necessarily dump it but release it quick enough to keep the rpm up. Usually if I'm coming to a stop I'll just go to neutral. If not coming to a stop I would probably just stay in 2nd

@SasukeUchiha-nk6pq it's no problem ar all. Just find a parking lot ir a very low traffic area where you can have an area to yourself and practice as much as you can.

You don't need to dump it to catch the rpms on a downshift like this. Just release smoothly as you always do, its all about timing, no need to "dump", in fact DON'T dump, your better than that I believe in you lol. Blip and smooth out like usual. Its ok to do it quickly, but don't just let go of the clutch lever, smoothly guide it to fully engaged instead. You catch those RPMs the moment the plates touch the engine, its not a race, clutch never needs to be dumped.

I feel like riding the clutch is worse than rapidly releasing it in the correct rpm range and I have better outcome with "dumping" personally as the rear tire has tendencies to lock up if you release the clutch too rapidly when downshifting if you let the rpm drop too much. You may be right as far as wear and tear but I've had 0 issues personally. I had 7500 on the mt03 and never had clutch issues and I'm at 3500 on the zx6r with no issues but I can see your point and maybe could be an issue at 10k+ but by the time more maintenance would be expected IMHO.
