⚠MISTAKES IN THE VIDEO⚠ Question 1c: The direction of the resultant force should be acting upwards, as the mass is actually decelerating (slowing down; think of a bungee jumper slowing down (and eventually bouncing back up) once their rope starts to expand). This means the tension force should be drawn upwards with a length greater than that of weight. Question 1d: When setting up the first equation, weight (Fg) should be written with a negative sign, as the direction is opposite to that of the tension force. I'm realising that there's been more traffic coming into this video, presumably because of the upcoming M22 Physics Exam, so I wanted to make sure that I wasn't confusing or misinforming anyone. If you spot any more mistakes or confusions please leave a comment! I was quite careless when making the video and must have missed a couple important details. Hopefully the video was still helpful in giving you an idea of how you can approach questions in general. Best of luck to anyone preparing for this year's exams! Let's all get that grade we want and finish off our 2 year-journey strong!

for 1c shouldn't arrow be longer thank weight (according to markscheme)?

Yep, I must have confused myself during the video. The mass is actually decelerating, which means the average resultant force should be upwards. This would only make sense if tension is greater than the weight. Thanks for pointing it out! I wouldn't have realized otherwise hahaha

just wanted to correct myself to prevent any confusion for anyone else, the answer should be resultant plus weight (as you mentioned) since weight is acting downwards and should be represented with a negative sign. I missed that in the video when I set up the first equation and would have actually costed me the 2 marks haha! thanks for pointing it out 😁

It was part of the May 2018 Paper 2 for HL. Topic 2 doesnt have an HL component and the focus of the video was to show the thought process of solving a paper 2 question.
