✅ Detailed Steps
We begin with the problem: 2^(√x) = 8^x
1.Express 8 as a power of 2: 8 = 2^3 8^x = (2^3)^x
2.Simplify the right-hand side: (2^3)^x = 2^(3x)
3.Rewrite the equation using these expressions: 2^(√x) = 2^(3x)
4.Since the bases are the same, set the exponents equal to each other: √x = 3x
5.Square both sides to eliminate the square root: (√x)^2 = (3x)^2 x = 9x^2
6.Rearrange the equation to form a standard polynomial equation: 9x^2 - x = 0
7.Factor out the common term: x(9x - 1) = 0
8.Set each factor equal to zero and solve for x: x = 0 9x - 1 = 0 9x = 1 x = 1/9
Therefore, the solutions are: x = 0 x = 1/9

i saw this in recommended and tried my hand at it, then went to the end of the video to see if i was right and i was! heres how i solved it: 2^sqrt(x) = 8^x ln 2^sqrt(x) = ln 8^x sqrt(x) ln 2 = x ln 8 sqrt(x) = x ln 8/ln 2 sqrt(x)/x = ln 8/ln 2 sqrt(x)/x = 3 (had to use a calculator for that) sqrt(1/x) = 3 (also had to play with a calculator to make sure thats true) 1/x = 9 1 = 9x 1/9 = x i completely missed that 0 is valid too! of course thats the obvious/"cheating" answer :)
