In How to Solve Sudoku Puzzles - Sudoku Beginner Tutorial #1 by Smart Hobbies, I explain the 3 basic strategies that can be used to solve ANY easy Sudoku puzzle. The 3 strategies are the Hidden Single, Naked Single, and Naked Pair. This is the first video in my Sudoku Beginner Tutorials playlist. The focus of these tutorials is to introduce and help you learn the strategies required to solve Sudoku puzzles quickly and correctly. I solve all the puzzles logically without guessing.

I decided to do something easy this time. Then I decided to challenge myself a little, and do this puzzle without pencilmarking. I managed it, although it took a while and I diverted onto a wrong path from which I had to backtrack.

I am happy to hear that you are trying puzzles if varying difficulty levels and trying some without marks. I practice on easy puzzles every week to improve my scanning. What got you to make an error and then have to backtrack?

@@SmartHobbies I can't remember the details now, unfortunately. All I know is that I prematurely placed a digit, or placed a digit when an alternative was still available.

Oef... the fact that the candidates are visible honestly feels like cheating. How do I identify naked singles and naked pairs without having candidates visible.

I also have several live solve videos , most recently the one featuring Vertix by Yoshi Baroshi, which I solve without marks. Hope that helps.

Did not understood the naked pair

Thank you so much for watching. A naked pair occurs in a house (row, column, or block) when there are only the same 2 possibilities for 2 of the cells in that house. So you know those 2 possibilities have to be confined to those 2 cells, and we can eliminate them as possibilities for any of the other cells in that house. I hope that helps. Naked pairs pop up frequently in my solving videos. I recommend you watch some more of solving videos to get more familiar with the concept. Happy solving.
