I normally don't do the puzzles with the red alerts on, but they were on now and I didn't bother to turn them off. I'm pretty sure they may unraveling the centermarks considerably faster. Block 7's 3 was my first digit, although I didn't zero in on it immediately the way you did. I found lots of pairs and triples, which helped. 4:30 I followed the same next four solves as you, although I didn't get the 1 in block 8 until I'd gone through my routine of cornermarking. Every (ungiven) digit was cornermarked in block 8, and R9C4 had only a 1. The next 1 and the 5s came immediately, of course. Afterwards, I detoured back to block 8, and placed the digits except for an 89 pair. I also cornermarked in a couple more blocks, but then went to the 4 in block 2. 8:20 I'd already done block 8, so my next step after block 2's 4 was the 34 pair in block 5, column 4. That gave a 79 pair, and resolved block 8's 89 pair. 8:10 My way was much easier. Cross-hatch block 2's 4, and immediately get the 34 pair. The remaining three cells are 789, with 8 only allowed in R8C4. 9:20 What I did following this was to centermark blocks 2, 3, 4, and 5 -- including block 2's pointing pair of 9s. I centermarked rows 8 and 9, leading to a 246 triple in column 9 and a residual 17 pair. 10:00 When I'm stuck, I go and centermark houses, hoping to find something. I found something above (the triple). Now, I finished cornermarking block 8 and found something else: column 8's pointing pair in 6s, pointing at a 69 cell R4C8. That unraveled a bundle of centermarks (and cornermarks) and gave me a bundle of digits, including all of block 2 and your important 79 pair. It also gave me a 67 pair in row 8, which unraveled a bundle more. Right now, reviewing what I did, I can see 23 limited in column 7 to two cells. I didn't see it during my solve, because I was too busy with other things. Then the cells got resolved without my ever seeing the 23 pair. Cleaning up the centermarks gave me a 145 triple in row 3, which gave me a 29 pair. One of the 29 cells was the green cell. 12:20 I got both 67 pairs, although through radically-different solve paths. 15:10 Ditto for the 29 pair in block 1. Having centermarked block 4, I immediately got the 269 triple after the 29 pair. That gave me a 47 pair in the column. The rest was unraveling the centermarks.

Fun puzzle à la Kumar. Notation free. First, the two angled corners give 8 in block 3 at 28 and 3 in block 7 at 82. Then 4 at 16 (naked single), 34 pair in block 5 at 45 and 46; 8 in 84, 1 in 94, 1 in 46, 5 in 45 and the 79 pair to complete row4. The top remains difficult to disambiguate, but restrictions elsewhere will come to the rescue, such as the 67 pair in the middle column of block 9. Great stuff, although notation free becomes quite an exercise for a 75 year old memory. Great demo as usual, thanks.

It's taken 45 min. PPPE. Needed filling in all cells. * r2c8= 8, *R8c2= 3, *R1c3= 8, *R1c8= 4 ( only place for 4, count NOS 1 to 9, *R9c4= 1 (only place for 1 ) *R8c4= 8, *34 pairs in Col 4, *269 tripple and 1&5 in Col 6., *R7c9=8, *Box-8 = 9&6, *246 in Col 9, and 1&7, *6s in box 6 col 9-it make 9 in r4c8, *Now row 4 completed with 26 pairs, These are enough to solve, in between got 67s UR in row 7&8. Taking notes took time. Very good puzzle from ASHISH. Now the watching time.

Thanks for walking us through this! I appreciate the time that you spent. I didn't find any of the first few things on my own, because I was concentrating on eating for the first few minutes. Regarding 06:53 Tricky Tip #1, I tried it on my own to see if I could get the 79 that you got without me listening. Of course I didn't! :-D Fortunately, I did solve for another pair, though. That being said, to find the 79 first like you did, I discovered that it might actually help to think of it this way: 1) Okay...we have these 4 givens in column 4. 2) Of the remaining 5 candidates, which of them are excluded, using the block first, and then using the row second? Using the row second reduces eye movement. 3) If there are still 3/5 or more candidates remaining, then are there any other candidates excluded using the blocks below? Do you think that my suggested 3 steps are the most efficient process for most beginners and experts? Regarding 14:38 Tip #4, I got very confused immediately after you found 29. How you know to look for the triple, as opposed to a quadruple? Why did you not check to see if any of those candidates were available in the other cells? I think that your teaching is in hindsight, which makes it hard to solve in foresight, when we need the wisdom the most.

I appreciate your feedback Eugene. For your first question, I do believe your first method is a great way to teach beginners on how to spot pairs. For the second question about the triple, I remember solving the 29 and then looking down the column to see what it gave me, and saw there was now a naked triple. I thought you had a keen observation about hindsight vs foresight. What do you think would help bridge that gap for first time solvers?

Nice. Not a good time for me: 13:50. I decided to try alone first, but got lost. Your help at 11min with the 23 pair and the 9 in box 6 was crucial for my solve. Thank you!

Another hard puzzle that took me over an hour, not counting additional time spent referring to the video. I started pretty good, but then started filling in way too many candidates. I had all block 8 filled in and found a triple on column 9 before needing to resort to the video, but I didn't spot the 4 in block 2 or the conjugate pair in column 7. No telling how long the puzzle would have taken if the video didn't tell about column 7, because nothing was pointing towards it.

Another fine-looking puzzle. One tricky step (82 = row 8 column 2): 82, 28, 94, 46, 45, 86, 95, 16, 84 (hidden pair in box 5), 75, 79, 48, 24, 44, 15, 35, 26, 11, 13, 87, 89, 39, 12 (hidden single, owing to triple in column; not easy to find), 37, 38, 27, 17, 64, 54, 68, 97, 98, 99, 87, 57, 65, 55, 61, 59, 49, 42, 33, 31, 73, 32, 53, 66, 56, 62, 51, 71, 21, 83, 78, 88, 72, 23, 22, 93.

@@SmartHobbies Oops! I accidentally posted this reply below a different video. I am following your solution now. Interestingly, I found that 4 in box 2 by different means, but it was my first write-in after the few easy cells at the beginning. Oh, I actually found the 4 in box 5 before the one in box 2. In any case, it led to the same sequence of easy 4s elsewhere. Follow-up: Well, I was right. I would never have spotted the Discontinuous Loop as such, but some of my virtual chains are not unlike it.
