This is my solution to the Hanayama Cast Quartet. It is rated as a 6-star puzzle, and it lives up to the difficulty rating! It is certainly a very complicated piece, but the solution is surprisingly "simple" (relative to the construction of the puzzle itself...)

Clearer explanation than I'd seen elsewhere. It was always the 'quarter turn of the quartet piece' then 'quarter turn of the other' that I seemed to get stuck on, but I think that's made it easier to remember now 👍

Oskar Van Deventer had designed a puzzle called The Lucky Clover, which appears similar to Cast Quartet but solving it is much more complex. Hanayama had not tried to include this puzzle into their portfolio probably because of the similarity of appearance. I recommend you try it.

Just searched The Lucky Clover, seems very interesting and will certainly try it out later. I am currently trying out the Hourglass and still haven't started the nut case. I plan to save the hourglass for last since everyone says its the hardest our of all the 6-stars! :) Thanks for the suggestion!

@@downtimefun yes I did, I was stuck on the last rotation for the 2nd square and after watching your vid I found out I was starting off with the incorrect pairing. I had the Hanayama and Quartet on opposite sides. I think the machining of my puzzle requires me to have the quartet and Hanayama on the same side as was in your vid.

Great! Indeed the solve is not as smooth as some of the other Hanayama puzzles, and the coating comes off too! 🙈 Will you be attempting any other Hanayamas?

@@downtimefun I have already solved 10 others. This was the only one I had to look up help on. Some may take me a luttle time, but i get there eventually.
