alright, those of you who may see this in the future, i retract the "robtops version probably wont be good" statement cause its not right to judge something if i dont even know how it functions yet, so theres that bit as a sidenote i probably wont see anymore comments, but keep putting your thoughts and what not down here, just remember to be respectful
i remember hearing from somewhere that robtop doesnt want to hire absolute for some reason but yea hjfod should join rob and maybe make geode into an official mod library which could allow the game to stop people from hacking without needing anticheat just by seeing if they downloaded a mod that isnt considered legit.
Why does everyone assume "Robtop's version of CBF" is going to suck so bad? Like, I know hating is a very fun activity but he literally has not stated anything about what he's working on other than the fact that it might not be quite the same as the current mod. I just don't get how suddenly this becomes such a serious issue in the community when we've gone so far without it... We can wait a few more years lol I'm not saying the feature is bad by any means, in fact I'd encourage him to add it, I'm assuming he just doesn't like the sound of borrowing code from a mod directly. Or he disapproves of it. The problem with being limited to a certain tick rate mainly concerns people with worse running devices. People who have been able to run, say, sidestep without losing frames, are likely only desperate for the mod because it made them slightly better at the game when they tried it... I'm as split on this as Robtop against the majority of the playerbase. But I think we shouldn't blow it out of proportion if Robtop doesn't go through with it.
People fail to realize game developers aren't always required to listen to their community about everything. I think this mainly comes down to a decision on his part.
No but why hasnt robtop hired them lol. Robtop isnt even working on 2.21 yet and just focused on adding small features for now. Im hoping when he starts on 2.21, he hires them to help It would be a good time because it will be a bigger update that requires more work, but not too big of an update. That way they can learn to work together. There isnt any downside as there not adding their own features, but adding the features robrop wants
uh... Rob said he's trying to get a cross platform version working. CBF right now ISN'T cross platform with mobile phones. So hiring the CBF team doesn't fix this problem, and ignores the fact that there's a lot of setup involved hiring developers for a game that has been solo build for 10 years. It's not just a thing he can "do" and the game will be better... he needs to trust the developers too and that's probably a bigger barrier than anything. If a few devs did get hired, it'd probably be a nightmare (I'm talking years) before GD enters a state where the dev team can reliably push content.
The fact that CBF is not cross platform is a problem of the developers not working on it yet, not that it is impossible. Hiring the CBF team would speed up the process ten-fold and could help RobTop get a better understanding of how CBF works currently. No downsides there. RobTop has also stated himself that he wants to get more people working on the game, so setting up a team now may not even be a bad thing. Because people have been modding the game already for so long, there's a pretty high chance that anyone he hires would already have a decent understanding of the source code. Even in the case where setup is complicated, I think saying it would take years is a huge exaggeration only meant to prove your point. At the worst, it would take a few months, and considering how long this community is used to waiting for updates, I don't see that as much of a problem at all. As well as this, hiring new developers comes with almost zero risk. It is extremely easy to make backups of a project, so there is minimal trust needed before new developers can begin working on the game. If the work needed had to do with the servers, there may be more risk there, as servers are harder to backup (still not impossible). Thankfully, CBF and any variations of it can be implemented without ever even touching the servers.
its not that rob is having issues implementing the mod into the game, its that he doesn't want the mod in the game in the first place. rob doesn't want to add the mod because he said it changes the physics, rob already made up his mind with un-rating a level verified with it and saying he wont rate any levels beaten with cbf. i dont think hiring the people that made the mod would change his mind. i support cbf and this might just be another situation like other mods in the past but this mod does actually alter the game and how it works and i can see why rob is so against it.
i never said he was having issues with implementing it, my problem with him doing it, is that its him, and not the person who made the mod. yes it changes the physics but because syzzi isnt allowed to directly implement it into the game itself and its a mod and not a feature, it kinda has to. if rob was willing to hire people in the first place then the issues that the current version of cbf has probably wouldnt exist, ie exclusive to pc, physics change, etc
@@shayisbubi hope he does change his mind or make the one hes making good but i just dont think he wants to add cbf. cbf also might not work the same on all devices (already doesnt work on mobile) and rob has been trying to have the same physics across everything so if its not the same then it makes sense why he doesnt want to add it.
well no, ive know the guy since 2018, most he was known for was a sonic wave remix at the time, he wasnt this known, but i guess i never really thought about it cause ive also been friends with bgram for longer lmao
