Here I show you how to use the quadrant rule or CAST diagram to solve trigonometric equations in different ranges. It saves having to use trigonometric graphs and so makes a solution quicker and more efficient.

Hello. I watched both your videos on quadrant method now and fully understand this. However, if you had a video using quadrant method in radians it would help a lot! I guess it's the same principle but I'm a visual learner and think it'd be really cool if you could some time! :)

Would it not be easier to just draw each function and see where the value intercepts the function?

That's up to you but I think not. The quadrant rule IMO is quicker.

What if we have pi/6 and we need to convert to range 0,-2pi
@Mozzie7920
@Mozzie7920 3 года назад
The range 0,-2pi is equal to the range of 0,-360 degrees because 2pi equals 360 degrees

This is bizzare. I cannot get my Casio fx-85 GT Plus calculator to calculate the inverse sine of root 3/2. Of course it`s in degrees mode !! I have tried every way that I can think of. Ah - I have just found a way. It is to calculate root 2/3 and then enter the inverse sine function and enter the answer ( Ans ) to the previous calculation ( root 2/3 ). It still frustrates me that I don`t know why my calculator returns a Maths Error message when I try to do it more directly.

***** You have made a mistake earlier. You will always get an error if you try to inverse sin any value greater than 1 or less than -1. The sin graph goes between -1 and 1. Your calculator is ok but you must have made a mistake in your calculation. What was it?

ExamSolutions I see how I earlier went wrong. But now, I enter `shift` and then press `sin.` I then enter the root key, then I press the key immediately to the left of the root key. Then I enter the numerator ( 3 ) on top and then press the down key and enter the denominator (2). I then close the bracket and press =. But it doesn`t matter whether I close the bracket or not. I still get a Maths Error. On the other hand, if I enter shift, followed by `sin` followed by root, then 3, and then followed by the conventional calculator command symbol to divide ( . / . ) the answer comes out as 60. So I know how to get an answer. I`m just so used to getting the correct answer by simply entering the inverse of the functions.

ExamSolutions Ps, I now see exactly where I have gone wrong. Thanks for your time.
