Price the scully at $70 obo, i just sold 2 of them internationally. One for $70 and the other for $60. Only took about 2 weeks

I’ve been making a lot of changes to the way I do things lately including making sure that my average sale price is increasing. I simply do not have time for an item that sells $20-$25. If you set an hourly rate for yourself at, for example, $50 an hour and you spend five hours sourcing you need to recoup that $250. Then you need to get hback the $221 that you spent. So from the items that were purchased on that run you need to at least get back $470.

I V, did you do the math for what he just showed? 31 pieces at just $25 each is $775 in the next week while you are waiting a month for that slow dime at $50. There is nothing wrong with either system, and it doesn't mean he values his time less than you. I'm seeing sellers complain about the summer slow down while Matt is cookin' it!

31 pieces? To gross 775. Do you know how long that takes? I just sold one rug for $300 mostly profit. Think about it. Who’s got that kind of time? The price point is too low to make it worthwhile.

@@llsotka6211 I am not waiting for any dimes and things are not particularly slow. One reason is that I reduce clothing listings in the summer months and go more for antiques and hard goods. But you didn't think the numbers through. 775 minus 221 cost is 554 net. ebay takes 15% of gross [not factoring in shipping as it is unknown, assume free shipping] which deducts 100 from 554. now you have 454. divide by 31 pieces and you get 14 per piece. that is alot of time and listing for 454/14 bucks. and it will not all sell in one week. you are within your right to think that is "cookin it". however, here in the northeast a 2 pound package of steak is 15 and gas is 3.20 a gallon. you need 2K per week to live comfortably.

@@jv-ep2tc I hear what you're saying. It would be glorious if we could walk into thrift stores and find $300 rugs every day. I use to only sell men's suits and polos. Then covid, and you gotta do what you gotta do. My t-shirt account pays my bills now, and it's a good thing I have such a huge death pile of them because the pickins' are slim now. I have t-shirts that have sold comps at $300 listed for the same, but you have to be patient for those buyers. Meanwhile, I put 3 $20 and more tees in the mail daily. Yes bread and butter is work, but I have a hard time leaving those $20 bills on the hanger when I know I am physically capable of turning them into cold hard cash in my bank account.

@@llsotka6211 the kind of rugs I've sold are not found in thrift stores [rarely if ever]. surely you know how to find things other than in thrifts? thrifts are great when you are a newbie, its a cost effective way to learn the nuts and bolts of online selling. but as you learn, you should be able to grow and spot other opportunities.

I think your low pricing helps our entire industry. Resellers should be buying low enough that buyers can get a deal too! I have been trying to drop my prices a bit in general. Faster flipping is definitely paying off for me too!

I'm in South Florida, Ive always had board shorts as part of inventory. I list them even in the winter and they sell to northern states. I find at GW bins all the time, buy cost of $1, Hurley Phantoms are another great seller to look for. thanks

I had 4 identical pairs of 501xx all USA made NWOT in medium wash denim in a small waist size 28 but measured as 26. Sold the first one very quickly. I’ll take offers soon for the other 3 but I’m not going to go lower than $50. Please no racing to the bottom! 🤞🏼😉 Just teasing, do whatever works best for your business model!

Great haul! So happy you had such a positive experience today. I'm still working on my rather large "Lost Money Racks" of stuff needing to be listed. At 117 degrees this week in Phoenix area, I'm skipping on even going out sourcing. Wish Arizona had an ocean. You are so lucky to live in San Diego. I miss the Bay Area & Santa Cruz and really all of CA.

Great haul. Just last week vacationing in Lake Tahoe, your words of low hanging fruit and salmon skin and brains, guided a goodwill visit. My husband waited in the car for my promised 20 minute stop. I found Lilly Pulitzer, Levi 501s, vtg adidas, BR MadMen collection. And this was only 1/4 of the racks. My last find was a lamb leather jacket by Marina Rinaldi, a MaxMara brand retails for 1k approx, just as my 20 minute timer went off. I left everything else behind and happily left with that jacket for 20$. Should be able to flip for $250 ish, fits me perfectly, though. Lol 😂

Love your videos! Genuinely curious-as someone who loves sourcing and hates listing (me too), why is your business model to sell a high quantity by pricing low for quick turnover? If I had access to amazing thrift stores in San Diego or LA, my model would be to focus on items with an ASP of $50+. Sure I'd walk out of each thrift store with fewer items, but I'd just hit up more thrifts and list fewer items, therefore getting to spend more time sourcing and less time listing. I'd make fewer sales but profit 3x as much per sale, so end up making the same amount of $ overall. Is there a plus to your strategy I'm overlooking?

That’s what I try to do as well. I try to pick up things I know will have good sell through plus where I can make at least $30 on each item before fees, costs.

I normally get $40 $50 for Scully shirts. Aren’t you jealous when you watch people haul from places that get shirts for $4 pants for $5. Except you get good brands. I never find Kuhl and Patagonia, brands like that.

Odd question - a friend that resells washes everything they find, then steams and photographs. I generally steam and photograph, but only wash if it smells or has a noticeable stain I feel if I get out I can make more on. Though (a first) I just took an old GunneSax dress of mine from a wedding I was the only attendant in @ 14 in 1987 (with a HUGE bow on the ass) to the cleaners yesterday so I can list… If I buy something online, I wash it when I get it, anyway. Your thoughts/advice and/or what you do? Thanks!

What I have done (h/t Lindey Glenn) is search for a brand and (on ebay) use the "sold within 100 miles" filter. If very little shows up then it's likely no one is finding it in your area to source. I did this with many of the top Manifesto brands and my first hit was Vuori. 4 had sold 100 miles from me and 3 from the same reseller (I'm betting it was an estate score). So I don't feel bad not finding the $$$ brands very often.

I live in Central Florida too. I don’t find a lot of great brands either but I find a lot of mid tier items. I think the trick is just to go as often as you can. A lot of time I go To thrift stores 4 to 6 times a week and I also sell hard goods in addition to clothing to help balance things out. I personally wouldn’t drive to South Florida But that’s just me.

I would think the cowboy shirt should be $64.95 why give it away....Some entertainer is going to buy that shirt...might even go for $125 without a problem. Anybody and give stuff away....Why do all you RU-vid channels race everthing to the bottom of the market....Dumb! You only continue the decline in the pricing stucture of the clothing category.
