I enjoy spindle spinning and do this onto my spindle for some tops and they come out fantastic. Thank you for explaining and showing what and how to do this.
🧶♥️Thank you so much!! Exactly what I was looking for. I know spinning from the fold used it a lot for silk, but it was tot my favourite way to spin. Now I understand why - I am a single colour person (until yesterday 🤣). I think I am going to use this method more often now as I bought some beautiful multicoloured top similar to yours. Jilian Esparza ♥️ thank you for the link for this beautiful and very educational video!!
Yay! Thanks for the tips Mary. I have never been great at spinning from the fold... but I want to give this a try now. I love your combed tops. I just spun Fire Opal linen wool top and it drafted like butter. I love the texture of the flax with the wool. Mmm. I just love your fibers and the Spinning Box!!! :D
Happy Friday Mary! This video is so helpful! Just wonderful! So happy to hear that you made it through the hurricane...hope you didn’t have too much damage. ; ). I finally have the money and more importantly, hopefully the skills (after using a drop spindle for a long time), to purchase my first wheel, yay. I’m curious what wheel you’re using in this video, and would you recommend it to others? Ty for all your kindness, Jules: )
Great video! Can't wait to try this. One question, what is the purpose of the rubber bands or yarn on the flyer near the hooks? Also, why only on one side?
Wonderful! Thank you. A helpful hint? Would you be willing to put a white sheet down on the floor, or on your lap so that the viewers can see the color better? Again, many thanks for a great and helpful video
If spinning from the fold is done to keep the colors more separate, would chain plying help that even further? I suppose it is worth an experiment from my perspective. I'm rather new compared to some. And a research scientist by education and experience.
At first I was gonna ply the Bird of Paradise colorway with the Flowering Fuschia colorway but decided to spin them separately, across the width, as singles, and then I am going to knit them together using a colorwork pattern.
