You, Buckin, and Tin Man have re inspired me. Just got done fixing the oiler on a PL4 Remington. Tomorrow I think I'll dig out the ol white and red holiday, clean the carb and see what I can do for a fuel line. Then I got a Tilton 420 that needs some attention. All that is a warm up to putting a new piston in my favorite saw ever. The ol 925 super XL. Might do some light porting on that one. I don't know though it would pull a chain dull in the oak before. Don't need that.
We love you Ironhorse and believe in you. Your kindness empowers us to do more with our lives. We need you, don't stop because you are teaching the next generation how to live and be productive!!! Bless you and your wonderful family!!!
I bought a large parts washer off craigslist for $50. Works great cleaning saws while tearing them apart. I enjoy your channel. I ported 2 372 junkyard builds this spring like you did in your video earlier this year,,moved 90k Bdft of pine, and 40k of hardwood and 110 cords of cut and split with them..they run great, thanks for the knowledge. I would be happy to send you a 372 case half
ABSOLUTELY! I LOVE BOTH THESE MEN! I get so excited when I see harve and tinman pop up, today It just happened at same time, so now I get to watch me some tinman! Great day!
Hey Iron Horse I've been watching your videos for a while and i figured its time I said hi. I don't comment very often, but it's time. I really like watching you work on saws and it makes me want to find a 266 like my father has. We did a lot of firewood when I was younger. I have a Stihl 362 to now and it's a great all around saw, but there is something about those old Husky's. I also wanted to comment on your vintage mx video. That brought back memories of some of the bikes I used to have. Anyways I just want you to know I love your videos and I'm glad your going to keep making them.
Thank you mr Harvey for sharing your knowledge on your channel. I am in England and I am learning so so much from you and your channel. Keep the videos coming and keep sharing your vast and amazing amount of knowledge
another great & useful video. was in shop & looking at a jonsered 630 basket case. think i will tackle now. junk yard saws i call johnny cash saws. part here part there. cant wait to see how you rebuild this one. really like those stainless steel 372 mufflers
Ironhorse, I'm new to saw building and I've been researching it for quite a while now ( watching your videos and others). I must say your videos are a godsend to me because you years of experience puts me so much further ahead than trying to figure everything out myself. I really would like to get into sawbuilding myself, things like this interest me and the area I live in there's a need for it. I guess I just want to say thank you for your videos and maybe someday I can talk to you st an event like buckinstock or something like that.
It's going to be beautiful Harvey. It's the same cases but like what Austin Denotters' comment said. If you use a Husky rear handle and fuel tank the Jonsered top handle is a different bolt pattern. I believe they can be modified to fit though. Don't paint it let it's true colors shine Harvey!
I tell ya what I LOVE sleepers. A saw that looks like a junk but is a wicked runner is absolutely awesome. When that thing is all done I’ll buy it if your willing to sell it!!! No joke!!!
Thanks for all the videos, it's a pleasure watching them and i always learn something. The junkyard saw could definitely prove to be an interesting build!
I've got two of the unbranded saws that I have been using for firewood. Keeps me from putting too much wear and tear on my vintage stuff. So far they've been wood eating moesheenz. I love them. Start easy, run good, good power.
Function over fashion every time Ironhorse. It's what's on the inside that matters brother. I love it buddy. Gonna be a sweet saw when its rippin chips. Love it man. 🌲❤🌲✊
Harvey, if I wuz closer 2 U I would like 2 come and visit/relate/BS. U really know your way inside and out with saws. As U R, I am also an old school logger, saw fixer, I also have bunch of older like 90's and 00's, Huskys, Johnys, and Stihls. Mostly saws I smashed, run over, or blew up, on my own. Like 075, 660, 372, 385, 394, 395, 2171, and 2186. I do have a bunch of 660 Stihls, these logger friends from Kentucky gave me when I went down 2 visit them. I actually from West Central Wisconsin.
The hardest thing for me when I built my Farmertec 372 two years ago was getting those damn circlips in the piston - they always are. My friend who is a Husqvarna tech out the chain break on for me. Stihl chain breakers I know how to assemble but the Husqvarna design is harder to figure out and assemble the first time.
The fuel tank / throttle handle needs a Husqvarna top handle. If you use a Jonsereds fuel tank then you need the black straight across Jonsereds top-handle. The bolt patterns won't fit.
A stupid question. Back in 86 I bought a new husky 154SE. Rebuilt stock with parts from Wolf Creek after a bad gas disaster. Just had another gas go-round. Now I can't find a cylinder and piston for it. I have bought two Stihl since, top handle and MS362. I want my Husky back ! For me, It is just a nicer saw. 100% stock and I have never seen another saw out cut it. It is the SE so the intake and exhaust are 90 degrees not 180. Thank you, Joe
HARVEYS BUILDING A JONSERVARNA😁😁😁 THATS AWESOME MY BUDDY HAD AN OLD STIHL 046 MAGNUM THAT WAS ALL BATTERED AND BRUISED ,BUT THAT SAW COULD OUTCUT BRAND NEW 044 ,AND 372XP HE DID SOME INTERNAL MODS TO IT ,IT LOOKED LIKE CRAP BUT RUN AWESOME SLEEPER SAW
Yea, I put a 360 Stihl crank in backwards and had to split the cases and reassemble them correctly. Now, I double check which end is in before I put the crank in the cases.
I got a bunch of might need it some day. And a lot of somebody else might need it .also a pile of just cant see throwing that out. Thats why you need a work place and a place where you live to get away from it. Thanks Harvey.
Harv paint it pink next month is breast cancer awareness month so be a good saw for that!!! Build the whole saw paint it pink and a few other colors and stickers...make for a nice give away or some kind of sell tickets for a saw and do drawing
@9:28 If you keep track of what goes where while you're splitting the cases, you can, if you wish, thread each screw into the spot where it goes & take a picture. Because thise case halves are dead flat to one another, that picture makes it obvious which length goes where. Mistakinly putting too long a screw in the wrong spot then whacking it with a cordless drive can create a REAL heart-break situation when the result is ripped out threads, or blowing a chunk out of the boss the hole is in etc etc. - We all make rookie mistakes from time to time, but we don't have to make every one of them possible! :) At least, not the first time out! Anyhow, as always, thanks to @The Ironhorse. Hey, btw, have you given this video a thumbs up? Can you remember to do that for at least the vjds hou actually DO LIKE? It really does help out quite a bit, and it's just a quick click, or often not even that, but a little TAPPY TAP TAP on teh screen. It looms like this -----> 👍
You are not alone Harvey and you get your therapy just like we do.lf you weren't building saws for us or your self what more satisfying endeavor would you be involved with. You love what you do how can anyone take that from you unless you give it to them. Not going to happen is it Harv.Ttyl Cliff
It's a holiday weekend You best be having a pickle If you have Any left. Do you worry about the paper towels and the carburetor cleaner spontaneously Catching Fire thrown on the floor?
Bill Block greetings from Nebraska. I see you on Tinman and here.I keep dropping by your place hoping for another new video. Hope you’ll do some more. I enjoy the old saws and such. Keep safe and blest down there.
I need to split an old magnesium Poulan. I had no idea I'd need the splitter tool. This project is quickly looking too expensive to make sense. I remade the little duckbill check valve and that didn't fix it. Smh 😏
I have a 61, plus one in a box as parts to get going again. Are these Huskie 61/268/272 normally subject to corrosion of the cases and cast alloy covers? Mine seem to have a lot of dissolved metal - even holes right through the oil tank of the basket case... None of my Stihl saws have ever shown this sort of thing.
I have a question it seems there are a bunch of case splitter and crank install tools for stuffer cranks so maybe you could do a video on that. And is a stuffer crank 360 degree counter weighted. Rick ohio
Hey leave it the way it is just call it junk yard dawg a Pretty saw don’t mean nothing it think of it like this I have been a few drag races true story she told up against a pretty Candy apple red car Crome all over ect ect I had beat up Ugly Malibu Mean ugly and I beat him so bad in the 1/4 Miele drag the only thin counts is cut tees and logs and does a good job👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺
Help!!! I just went and bought a brand new Husqvarna 440e series. It’s hard as hell to start once you get it started and it warms up you turn it off damn thing won’t start. Any suggestions? Thanks
