Love the “ CLASSIC VIC ROC “ set-up Hyd. Table / 150 press / u-Bolt machine. You have to be incredibly proud of that , sure beats hammer setting spring leaves ❤️🏴☠️🎥💯%👍🏻🇨🇦🔧💰😎👌.
Glad I seen this video I did the rear springs in my 05 F350 this way I've always had my doubts ever since I did it. I'm guessing Ford did it with one center bolt for production. The springs were the cheapest part, getting the U bolts, spring bolts and shackles from Ford makes a guy walk funny, nothing is cheap in BC. I remember when leaf spring packs were expensive I used to scrounge old spring packs to make up a "new" pack. Today you can get what ever you want for a reasonable price.
Ford installed the springs two different ways. Ine way attached to the spring but the other way the block just had a spike sticking up that the helper slid onto. So I figure either way is valid. Plus they do it this way on single axle dump trucks........so still good.
The next guy may think there is a single center bolt. Have you thought about reversing the center bolt through the helper? It would be more visual than anything and probably not the industry standard, but a thought I had.
I looked so long for a vid like this. Am I understanding that the block and aux spring are essentially full floating and the centre bolt does almost nothing?
The center bolt allocates everything for alignment purposes. the center bolt also just attaches and hold everything together. The Ubolts are what really keeps everything in place. and yes, the block and the center bolt are basically just floating, but it never takes any type of twist or torque like the main leaf spring pack does (from acceleration) so it can just sit there and be held by the Ubolts.
