Great video. I've seen counterfeit seated Liberty and old trade dollars knocking around at car boots etc but they're always considerably underweight.

We did weigh both coins in the video towards the end and they were both significantly underweight. A magnet is also a great way to find the low quality fakes.

The weight of the fake dimes, quarters and pennies is now spot on. It’s getting more and more difficult, the ‘silver’ plating goes down deep enough that even a gouge test will reveal silver color instead of copper.

I do have that kind of coin seated liberty 1843 saw it in a old house here in Philippines but underweight its only 22grams it still have value in it?

You're demonstrating apples to oranges, you need to actually compare the real deal to properly make your point.

I just bought a Silver Eagle dated 1900? Thought was strange, not expensive, has detail, compared with ones I have.

i have an 1871 seated silver dollar, it has no motton on the back, but the front and back are lined up and evrrything else is complety right. is a good fake or a misprint?

Odin Griffen If an 1871 dollar has no motto, it is most likely a fake.

I have a Morgan dollar that loooks just like the Morgan you have showed with the tarnish or patina on the coin ... mine was bought at my local coin shop and I weighed it and it doesn’t weigh 26.7 it weighs only 25.7 I am not sure if you’re saying the Morgan is fake or no ? Do you think my Morgan could be fake ?

With your Morgan dollar, the 1 gram difference is possibly due to wear in circulation, you did not indicate the grade, but would be strange if it were high grade to have lost 1 gram, you might also might try weighing it on scale with .01 calibration rather than .1 Best advice though is to talk to the local dealer you bought the coin from, who should be able to explain the differential to you, and obviously can see the grade, and double check the weight. If any of our customers have any query, we are always happy to try and answer it for them.

Question, if the front and back aren't aligned but the coin is in decent condition without the imperfections you displayed but the weight is 27 grams would this be a fake or real?

Could be real. Misaligned dies do happen as error coins. Misaligned dies happened more in the old days than today. Depending on the degree of rotation, it can make the coin more valuable (assuming it's real)

If it has a motto on the reverse, it is a fake, since all pre-1866 Seated Liberties don‘t have a motto on the reverse

I’m just wondering why these counterfeiters did not use real silver? Maybe it’s true that these coins are error coins or experimental coins just like the original 1804 dollar coins that was made of brass or bronze that few of them survive but labeled counterfeit which is more easier to do to get rid of them and for the people not to panic. Only a millionaire or billionaire who is stupid enough to spent a lot of money to counterfeit a coin and not doing it right.
