These scammers even have fake receipts, so be careful. Ive been looking for an s23 ultra and 4 different marketplace sellers had the same receipt/IMEI complete with the same typos and all😂
Yeah, it's crazy! You really need to 1st look at the bottom blue lens...if there is no lens, it's a fake. Them look at the S pen...if it doesn't have the tip...it's fake.
Good info, however what seller is going to give you time to initialize the phone, setup a Google account and then download CPU-X in order to run a test? I know you mentioned this could be a red flag. I like the tips about the camera being a gem and the tip of the S-pen. And speaking of the S-pen, it appeared the hole was not centered on the fake one compared to the original. I might be looking at one of these soon and thanks to your video, I hope I'm prepared 🤞🏽
Cpu X is the peace of mind after you get the phone. It's just to check to make sure it's running the correct software. The pen..the lens and the front camera hole are all tell tail signs. The icons will be clunky and you will know right away with the slow responsiveness of the fake phone.
I've bought all my phones from ebay so this video is useful for me. If I find its a fake its super easy to return and get my money back. Never had that issue so far though but these damn Chinese knockoffs on literally EVERYTHING are getting better and better so have to be careful...
If the seller wont let you use cpu x..all the more the phone is suspect especially if ur buying a used one. Then again you wont be doing that if you buy from an oficial store
It looks like the mic hole is slightly offset from the SIM eject hole on the knock-off. On the genuine phone these holes are in alignment. I always buy my phones new on the used market and it's getting increasingly difficult to tell a fake. But as long as you're vigilant and the seller agrees to let you go over it with a fine toothed comb then you should be fine. If the seller doesn't agree then that's a red flag right there.
Really useful video thanks for the info! I know an easy and fast way to make the difference. And that is Samsung Knox. It's a security component of Samsung. One key feature of this is the Samsung secure folder. So. If the phone has secure folder and Samsung Knox on it then it's a real phone. Try to login to the Samsung secure folder on the fake phone. It will not work. 👍
Today, I got set up by someone trying to sell me a fake one. Drove a 5h trip for nothing. (Like these fake sellers fake everything pre meet up. Then you show up flip the phone around and see the lenses are blue-er than the sky.) So frustrating.
Yes.. and some of them probably got set up themselves and are trying to get their money back by selling the fake phone they bought. That sapphire lense is a dead giveaway. Not even a camera there.
Read the description THE SELLER POST (For a quick sales to repair my car ,)selling MY UNLOCKED SAMSUNG GALAXY S23 ULTRA. 5G ,512GB. INTERNAL STORAGE, 12 GB RAM ,DUAL SIM ,QUAD CAMERA ACTION 200MP serious buyer price negotiable but not to lowLooking. These phone are seal unless it is brought by buyer you can do what you want but all the information of the phone the IMEI # MAKE AND MODEL IS ALL UNDER THE SEAL (%100 FAKE PHONE)🙏🙏🙏
Just watched this as I was about to buy an absolute bargain. This made me realise that a fake S23 Ultra was a thing. Unbelievable that I did not know this was possible. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
I usually get them from trusted retailers or my service provider but there's this sweet deal on a local online marketplace for an S23 Ultra. Lots of watchers no buyers. I'm thinking about it...if he lets me unseal the box and set it up at my house I'll buy it. If it's a fake I know this person wont even come to my place let alone let me unseal and set it up.
@macamelajoy Step 1: Go to Settings > About phone. Step 2: Scroll down to Build number. Step 3: Tap Build number seven times. ... Step 4: Once developer options are activated, you will see a message that reads, You are now a developer
I didn't even know there were fake Samsung phones out there, it just seemed like something too complicated to be worth trying to fake in the first place... unlike something like Ray-Ban sunglasses, or some other relatively simple item compared to a smartphone. I'm greatful now that I just bought my S23 directly from Samsung.
i think you just need to look at telephoto lens, if the lens changing(you can see it if you place a finger on it) then its original. Plus these bezels, on fake it is so huge compare to original one.
The average person doesn't know what to look for when buying these phones. These fakes are almost identical. If you don't have a real one to compare to, it's very hard to tell them apart look wise. I say the S pen is a dead giveaway. The S pen on the fakes looks very different.
Hello, where did you buy this replica? It is the only replica that does not have borders on the screen and has it the same as the original, I await your response.
Watched your video, went to buy a second hand s23 ultra. First thing I checked the camera, zoom only goes up to 10x, phone was laggy and the apps section was clunky as you said. Instantly walked away from the deal. But man, the build quality was premium
Good info! I only want to say that the shakiness in the video literally made me nauseous after a few minutes! Just so you know... it would be much better to have a mounted camera..😀
@@woodnyardjunkie awesome! Just out of curiosity where are they selling these fake phones? Are they trying to pass them as genuine, or they’re telling you upfront it’s a fake.. just got an s23 from Amazon… seems to be legit
@jackfisher7274 they are selling these everywhere, and no, they are not telling people they are fake. The real one I have in the video was from Amazon and was confirmed to be real. My video lays everything you need to know to spot the fake. The bad camera on the fake is a dead giveaway.
How to differentiate between demo unit and real unit. Demo units are used in Shops to display for the customers. But those products are sold with full intact package. Then how to differentiate them?
Does S-pen work on fake device ? If it's not then that's the best thing to check if it's a fake or not coz the tech that needed to integrate on screen to support an S-pen is expensive af.
The fake S pen does work but does not have the little circle that comes from the real one. I think once you look at the camera it's a dead giveaway. The fake had flip phone quality.
It might just not use this technology tho. There are pens that simulates human touch so there is no need for any technology to be integrated at all. The tip is made of a special material that acts just like you were touching the screen with your fingers.
These are really easy to spot, but the refurbished or renewed ones are difficult coz they're 99% the same....and people sell them as Genuine...it's crazy
The only 2 things that stood out to me were the blue sapphire in the bottom front camera and the larger camera circle diameter on the rear facing camera. Other than that without touching anything they look identical. It is getting crazy out here. Buying directly from the Samsung store is probably your best bet. Even cellphone dealers are out here duping people.
The real one is the one with the black barrier. It's a protective lens cover for the cameras. I put it on the real one to protect my cameras. I'm not putting one on the fake....
Easy way to tell the difference is to completely shut down the phone. Then boot it up..if it shows Samsung logo then it's real. If it shows "CHINESE LOGO" then it's fake.
@@woodnyardjunkie well..Mine did. These lame fakers are taking notes. Soon it will be very hard to tell the difference. The only thing you can tell is the speed. The faker used old cpu so it can't handle the current Android IOS and it would always be sluggish, other than that these lame scummers would try to mimic it . Best way is just to buy from Samsung - peace of mind. I got scammed for $550 :( I got so mad and I didn't want anyone to get it because I am not lame. I literally smashed it and tossed it in the trashcan.
The real one has a blue lense on the bottom camera, so the fake is trying to emulate the real. The fake goes overboard and looks like a blue jewel wedged in place of the camera.
I've been looking around for a 23 Ultra - I've noticed on the fakes I have seen thr About Phone page will have the "Galaxy S23 Ultra" text but will not have the picture of the phone above it. Did you notice that on your fake? That looked like a quick way to see a fake- although they could ad that on newer fakes.
why does NOBODY look for the most obvious thing? I've never seen a fake with the IMEI on the back, dead give away, why do all this crap when you can tell without even turning it on?
It had an IMEI that I looked up, and it said it was ligit. That's the most obvious thing that EVERYONE checks first. This goes deeper than that. I'm trying to help people not get scammed and making a video that helps them identify the fake. Thanks for watching.
@@woodnyardjunkie was it imprinted on the back of the phone? If not it is a fake, if a someone is selling a second hand phone in the box it is fake, just say it, why go through detail on the box when you know if someone is selling a phone in the box on facebook or whatever, it is FAKE
@@wemikallc yes it was on the box. I've already told you the box had NO signs of being a fake. I wouldn't make the video if I had just missed something easy.
I have a question: Does a fake phone get updates in any way? And can a fake phone get any kind of updates? ..I think this point will end the controversy and doubts.
@@woodnyardjunkie I bought the phone from a seller and found that it was made in Vietnam, and this made me worry.. but I received a security update from Samsung as soon as I opened the phone.. I think this is a good sign that the phone is not a copy. Anyway.. Do you have an idea about the difference between Vietnam and China version.. and which one is the better?.. Thanks for the reply by the way 💚
I wouldn't think so since it's older software. I haven't used the fake since this video. They are so slow and clunky that it's really a complete loss if you get one.
I don't have a specific link. They are just festering out there on Marketplace.. Ebay..Amazon..etc. Just look for a new one selling around 300-500 and it will most likely be a fake.
The funny thing is, the person who sold the fake phone was an older woman who said she had cancer for the 3rd time and was going through chemo right now. It's true cause I looked it up. So you never know who's the con and who's the honest person.
I'm not sure if it can call. When you purchase it, it's no longer on a plan, so you won't know at the time of purchase if it can make calls. I'm not going to try to use it after it's found to be a fake. Yes, it can get online just fine.
