Hollywood has many tricks to make people stand taller and actors wearing shoe lifts or elevator shoes is one of the most common techniques used.
In this video I'll give some examples of what to look for with shoes and postures, to help you spot actors who might wear lifts in their shoes.
Some celebs admit to wearing inserts, like Robert Downey Jr, who measures around 5ft 8 barefoot and 5ft 11 in his elevators.
Other celebrities like Tom Cruise are always assumed to wear lifts to boost their height, but when he sits down, is it obvious that he's wearing elevator shoes?
Some actors wear platform shoes for films - nobody walks around like Robert DeNiro in The Irishman in public, or wears the external lifts like Humphrey Bogart used to wear in films.
