Sam Robinson talks about the position of the trumpet on the face and why stamina is key to controlling his sound. He also explains the virtues of playing well quietly.
Since 2003, Sam Robinson has played his trumpet in venues all over Chicago and the Midwest. He currently leads the Sam Robinson Quintet, which plays straight-ahead jazz, mainly from the hard-bop / post-bop era. The band also performs original compositions in a similar style.
He’s released two albums, “Sweet Love of Mine” in2019, and in 2022, “Be With Me: Live at the Eastgate Café.”
