I hear all the "experts" say you can't or shouldn't overseed a cool season lawn in the spring. Why not? Let's give it a try!
This video has mowing, dethatching, overseeding of a cool season lawn in the spring.

Sir, work AWAY from your cord! I've watched four or five videos this evening - all of them by well qualified gardeners - none of whom have grasped the concept of starting where the cord enters the work area and working away. You never need to hassle with the cord when you do this. And thank you for this excellent review.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try this year when I dethatch and make a new video about it.

As a follower of Christ, I endure by clinging to His promises, CHOOSING faith, and remembering what He has already done in my life. The evidence of His goodness is everywhere.

I’m trying to convince my wife, that’s her area. She has done a wonderful job with all the color in our landscaping.

@@TheBitsonEffect yes sir!! She did a great job, I like the different textures. It will be very helpful if she can include the name, how long they last, care of the plant before, during, and after planting it. Thanks family and God Bless You!!

Hey, I have a question for you, well 2, I have Empire Zoysia, I used the Rock & Roker in one section and as soon I passed the green layer on the top of the lawn is gone and now I can see the mid/bottom section that is dry. I do not know if is normal and is part of the process or if I am killing the grass. and secondly, I am having a problem with the basket on the back, which keeps falling off, the lawn rises the basket and keeps falling off, do you have the same problem? I might need to add some screws or something, is very annoying.

Typically you don't dethatch a warm season grass like Zoysia because you can pull up or damage the runners. If you do have a thatch problem, it's best to scalp it down first, then use the dethatcher. That being said, depending on your normal cut of height (and because of the bag issue it sounds like it may be a bit high), you should be okay. Zoysia likes to be cut at 1/2" up to 2". Anything over 2" is not ideal for it. You just thinned it out. I suggest applying a fertilizer with around 16-4-8. I use Simple Lawn Solutions, but there are others. A good one is PGF Complete. Water daily and let the sun do its thing for it. Zoysia loves the sun. I didn't have any issues with the bag at my house, but I cut my lawn at 1 to 1-1/2". I remember having a small issue at my sisters house (cut normally around 3"), but I just removed it because there was so much thatch coming up that I had to keep stopping every pass.

@@TheBitsonEffect thank you. I am testing it using the Rock & Rocker set to 0 and 1 just to pick up clips using the power rake not the scarier. I do not cut the grass. The HOA does it. So I have no control unless I do it myself I have read that recommend high for empire zoysia is 2-3 inches and from what I see in the lawn company contract it says 3-4 inches. I am part of the HOA I might need to get more information about this. But yes, I am sure that is too high.
@TheBitsonEffect
@TheBitsonEffect 2 года назад
@@JavierRivera It's true recommend cut height is 1/2" to 2". The HOA is saying 3"-4" because they don't want to have to cut it more than once a week. Remember, the lower you cut (no matter the grass type), the more often you have to mow. That's why golf courses are mowing the greens daily and fairways every other day. The more often you mow, the more healthy, thick, and full your lawn gets too.

I was checking the Ryobi but is $429, is nice that is cordless but I do not think you can justify $429 to use it 2-3 a year and I bet has less power than the Rock N Rocker is 15 Amp Power and you can find it for $150. I bought one.
@TheBitsonEffect
@TheBitsonEffect 2 года назад
The price is a bit outrageous, which is puzzling because Ryobi always prices their stuff for good value. The Rock & Rocker one is decent. Definitely better than Sun Joe! 😂
