@@Bluegrass-Lawncare-LLC I only recommend a solid deck stain if there is already a solid stain on there. If so, Behr premium should deck stain is my recommendation. (Not deck over, that stuck is terrible)
It’s a sealant “ stain” which is really like a hard, polyurethane almost textured paint really that hardens and seals, but they call it a “stain” I think that’s a brown base sealant primer maybe, some come 2 in 1 so you don’t need to prime just slap it on. It’s weatherproof and seals the wood permanently, can also be used on concrete too. Prevents mold and Mildew from getting into the wood, silvering stains, future sanding, etc etc. it looks textured from this tiny screen so 90% sure that’s what it is lol
Typically here is our process. We power wash with cleaner (let it dry), spot sand/scape peeling areas and light sand to the whole floor. Lead blow to remove all the dust then use Behr premium solid deck stain. We do not typically sand down to bare wood
Solid deck stain lasts 2-3 years depending on many factors. If you already have a solid deck stain on the deck and are just changing the color it would be more work that it is work to strip it before hand.

We have oiled based semi transparent stain on a new deck built about 8 years ago (re-stained twice) and planning to go with solid color now…which type and brand of stain would you recommend please? Thank you.

So it’s ok to apply new solid stain over current stain without sanding it?
If im going from semi transparent to a solid stain do I need to sand off the old stain? its not in that bad of shape. Just got the house and dont like the color
And yeah, not many people use oil-based. I work at a retail store in the paint department and we don't even stock many oil based products anymore, dunno why he said specifically to an oil based semi transparent. Does that mean you wouldn't strip it if it was water based? Lol
it is a gray. Solid deck stain and paint look similar but are very different. Solid deck stain is meant to use on a deck floor but you never want to paint a deck floor.

Yes it does and a solid stain and paint look similar but are different. You use a solid stain on a deck floor and it will fade over time but a paint will peel. It's important to use the right material for the job
Didn't clean between the cracks? Solid stain over solid stain? Bubbles coming soon 😂😂😂 lack of prep, using a roller without backbrushing. I wouldn't warranty this job.
How would you do it? Are you gonna use the paintbrush and the whole thing? It still won’t make a difference. And spraying it won’t make a difference either it will still last the same amount of years.
@@pgibbons72 that’s because you don’t know how to pick out a good stain. Most fails are from not being educated in which stains do and don’t work. Trial and error is the only way to learn
