How to Stain Wood Like a PRO - General Finishes No Wipe Stain

Great video! I was completely unaware you could spray stain. After doing a few projects in the past that were a pain for all the reasons you mentioned in the video. This makes me re think about using stain.

I recently used GF Light Brown dye stain in conjunction with their Black Cherry wipe stain on Honduran Mahogany, and finished with GF Enduro 2k. Much the same procedure as you, but I used the dye stain as a base for the wiping stain. This works really well on blotchy woods such as maple. I first used the dedicated sanding sealer to eliminate an extra coat of 2k, where there is waste involved, plus I like how their sanding sealer sands. I do not wait until after 2cd coat to sand, I'm just really careful on edges to sand by hand with the SurfPrep 1/2" pads. And when spraying dye stain I do like you, start slow and build the finish. Great looking finish. Originally I was thinking this particular GF stain was part of the professional line, through dealers only. However, I checked it out and it's available via retail outlets. Cool.

That no-wipe stain looks great Jeff. Now I am wondering if it has to be sprayed on or can it also be wiped on with a rag?

you don't use a sanding sealer?

Can you use this stain over an existing finish?
