Hi there, It's great to find ourselves on the same path of window cleaning, and I wish you all the best and plenty of health! I have a question: When you ask your friends or partners who also do window cleaning for help, do you expect them to work for less because you secured the job? Or do they get paid what they ask so you don't lose the bigger job? I find myself in a similar situation where someone approached me asking for help, expecting me to work for half of my usual rate for the job. I agreed initially because I wanted to assist him, hoping he would reciprocate when I needed help. However, I felt he was trying to take advantage of me, so I declined. How do you handle such situations, and what's the general practice where you are? I'm from Germany.
@hallmanwindowwashing6484
@hallmanwindowwashing6484 5 месяцев назад
thanks for the questions! Expectation is key here, lay out the ground rules and payment/hourly before hand. If a job is big, maybe recruiting some fellow cleaners is better in the long run because you gain a client hopefully repeating! If your subbing out work, here in the states I’ve seen guys do it for no less the 50-70% of the job. So say, if I sub out a bigger job or even any job to a guy, I’d pay him 70% of total made from that job. If your working hand in hand with the gentleman or gal who recruited you to help, maybe you have a daily minimum that you need to hit so you tell them you’ll take no less then said minimum. Or if you agree, set an hourly rate 25-30$ an hour seems well for an experience guy. All this is key BEFORE the job. Also, do you get paid day of or when client pays? All questions to consider!

Beware,working the pole causes long term back and neck pain.its more expensive than trad cleaning. Takes longer to set the gear up. Also needs constant maintenance. Having that system in ur van increases fuel costs and insurance costs,trad is the best imo.
@hallmanwindowwashing6484
@hallmanwindowwashing6484 10 месяцев назад
I see it as helping you stay in shape, while it is definitely more expensive Initially, it pays for itself instantly. The way I have this van set up, guarantee it takes someone longer to get the squeegees/ladders out for exterior then it does me to grab my pole, turn my system on and go. As far as insurance and fuel, maybe costs me 1.5 mpg and doesn’t add any for van insurance, just gotta cover your equipment, minuscule. I also, other then changing filters which takes no time at all, I’ve done nothing to it. I will add some stuff for when the snow flies but I think someone who wants to get in the wfp game, it’s hands down worth it.
@gabersg
@gabersg 8 месяцев назад
Both have their place. Having a WF option opens up a ton of opportunities. It also reduces the amount of time on a ladder, which reduces the risk to your Worker's Comp (half of what I used to pay) as well as increases our per manhour profit by 50% at least. Staying trad only limits a growing company.

I own and operate a pressure washing business and have added window cleaning. I've started out with scrubbers of different sizes, some the combo w/squeegee, and different squeegee sizes. I've wondered if I were to get a water fed pole when would I use a scrubber and squeegee over it? What's the name of the Facebook group you're a part of?
@hallmanwindowwashing6484

You utilize water fed by scrubbing the glass with your nylon, boar hair or hybrid brush, rinsing thoroughly and letting it dry. No squeegee needed. The name of the group is “into the flow”!

@@hallmanwindowwashing6484 thanks for that info. How do you decide when to use a scrubber for outdoors or the water fed pole? I guess for windows up high a water fed pole would be ideal? The body won't wear out if you eat prime-dietary which keeps the body prime. I'm age 55, landscape contractor, I slog it out, labor. Doing great,… because of diet: Meat(some safe undercooked), truly raw dairy, eggs (some raw yolks), some fruit, some veggies/greens (low oxalic types), NO STARCHES, NO pasteurized/homogenized dairy, some beer (usually craft lights), some wine, minimal liquor,…. and water and salt. Don't eat junk, no sodapop (sparkling water is ok if you like),….. although you can get away with more junk before age 40, but after age 40, best to phase out the junk by age 50,… or else…!
